I have to go with the whole Mariachi trilogy. The concept behind it is incredible.

Have to go w/ Smitty on the whole Trilogy... From Dusk Til Dawn a close second.

I picked FROM DUSK TIL DAWN. Liked the pairing of Tarantino & Clooney. Plus Salma Hayek as the sexiest exotic dancer/vampire I've ever seen! ;D Just loved the way this film turned from one type of movie into another at about the halfway mark. The Mariachi series worked for me until "ONCE UPON A TIME...". I thought that one floundered, except for the scenes with Depp. Now, I would like to see a whole movie based around his character.

The whole concept of the Mariachi trilogy though was brilliant.
I mean, the three movies show how a legend grows. Notice how in each sequel, El Marichi seems more powerful than in the previous film. In Once Upon a Time in Mexico, he was almost superhuman. Also note that in the beginning of both sequels, someone passes the story of El Mariachi on to someone else. So you KNOW the guy's a legend. All three movies are variations of the same story. Cool, huh?

Oh, no doubt. I just didn't think the third one held up to the first two. It was kinda all over the place. But overall cool series nonetheless.

That's what I like the most about the Trilogy, the concept of the legend & how it grows & sometimes got embellished while being passed down, & then becoming the reluctant hero. I've just always loved stories like that.

I've got no problem with this: From Dusk Till Dawn, hands down. It almost feels like a Tarantino movie and that's always good if you ask me. The second half rushes in wonderfully: I knew that this isn't going to be a movie of pure genre but I was still surprised at how this metamorphosis happened. The actors, the dialogues, the setting - everything works 100% right.
My second choice would be The Faculty (not the best ending in the universe, but lots of cheesy fun before it), and only after that I would say Desperado (the presence of Tarantino and Buscemi makes it better than Once Upon Time In Mexico, but I liked both).

I picked From Dusk til Dawn. Has some great lines in it...like when Salma Hayek (who I wouldn't kick out of bed even though I don't swing that way ) says welcome to slavery and Clooney says no thanks he's already been married (or something like that). Then there's the seedy characters that you can't help but like, like sex machine. Even Juliette Lewis had appeal in that movie and I generally don't like her too much.

Sex Machine (Tom Savini) was one of the best characters in the film imo, aside from the main characters. The part where he's first turning into a vampire cracks me up every time! ;D

How about the below news?
From 'Empire':
Robert Rodriguez has finally finished casting for Sin City, and what a cast it is. If Empire ever gets someone to make that movie about life here in the office then we can only pray that a line-up like this will be around to portray our staff on screen.
Benicio Del Toro and Clive Owen are the final additions to this impressive ensemble, joining Bruce Willis, Elijah Wood, Leonardo DiCaprio, Josh Hartnett, Kate Bosworth, Jessica Alba, Brittany Murphy, Nick Stahl and Jessica Biel. Now, we're the first to admit that a great ensemble cast has failed to save many a sub-standard film (too many cooks and all that), but trust us, this is going to be great!
For those who have been sleeping at the back, the film is based on Frank Miller's stylised noir comic series, which, as anyone who's read them will tell you, rock. Episodic in structure, the film will be split into three chapters - named for titles in Miller's series: Sin City, That Yellow Bastard and The Big Fat Kill - each recounting the carryings-on of the city's seedy inhabitants.
Rodriguez isn't going into this half-arsed either. The director has resigned from the Director's Guild of America so that he could co-direct with series creator (and non-guild member) Miller - a move that has forced him to abandon his Princess of Mars Project altogether. Oh and Rodriguez is hoping to enlist Quentin Tarantino to direct the final segment.
I mean... Del Toro! Willis! Ta-ran-ti-no!!! It can't be bad, can it?

I thought Johnny Depp was supposed to be in the cast? Is he still in it? One can only hope.

No one angry at Robert about hiring Leo and Josh?

Angry, no. Although those two aren't up there on my list of great actors, I don't think they're terrible. It will be interesting to see what they can do working w/ Rodriguez.

In my personal opinion Leo is a pretty good actor (he IS!) but Josh is just one big sucker - sorry for the harsh words. I can forgive him his starring in this new Rodriguez movie (there are many cool actors there to make up for him), but the fact that he's going to be a LeAd AcToR in the new Brian De Palma movie - that's just dreadful!
