Charlie Bartlett (Jon Poll) -- cute, accessible Rushmore-esque comedy. Sure, it follows conventions fairly straight but it's fun to watch and does have some hilarious moments. B.

Tales from the Darkside-Not that bad of an Anthology, some really good moments in all stories but not enough to put it in the top ones of the genre. imdb.com/title/tt0100740/usercomments-47Hatchet-Absolutely perfect modern slasher, insanely gory, lots of nudity, perfect suspense and thoroughly fun action. imdb.com/title/tt0422401/usercomments-132Blood Sisters-Cheap vampire film, gets in some ok moments but nothing that's been done before better by other entries. imdb.com/title/tt0397345/usercomments-4The Nesting-Slow haunted house story, not a whole lot to really say as nothing much happened in it. imdb.com/title/tt0082804/usercomments-15The Witches Hammer-Action-packed vampire film feels way too cheap to stand out from the crowd, but still highly watchable. imdb.com/title/tt0400944/usercomments-6The Hearse-Even slower than Nesting, even less happens, but at least the slow, slow build gets a little creepy at times. imdb.com/title/tt0080853/usercomments-23Scream of the Wolf-Far more entertaining than it had every right to be, with a great werewolf design to cap it off with. imdb.com/title/tt0072128/usercomments-11King Kong Escapes-Goofy monsters and some slight logic impairments don't stop this rather fun giant monster romp. imdb.com/title/tt0061868/usercomments-34

About to reveal the absolute, utter proof that I enjoy crap:
Epic Movie, and truth be told, I enjoyed it. Had enough gags to keep me awake, rather pleasing riffs that had more than a few chuckles and plenty of goofiness that was pleasingly rewarding. Stupid, but I still liked it. 8/10
Jurassic Park-Good God, how many goofs does that movie have? I don't look for them, but I spotted at least a couple dozen, not even trying. Still prefer the more action-packed Part 2, but this one was still highly rewarding. 9/10

About to reveal the absolute, utter proof that I enjoy crap: Epic Movie 8/10 An 8/10??? Oh my. SWORD OF DOOM (1966) Even with the wonderful Toshiro Mifune in a supporting role, this samurai movie just wasn't that interesting to me. Way too much sitting around, talking, and way too little swordplay. The last 15 minutes or so are fantastic with lots of samurai action and spilled blood, but it's a long way to go to get there. 4/10 BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY (1989) My comments in the "Movie Genre of the Month" thread.

Jumper (2008, Doug Liman)
Not Liman's best movie, but still a highly entertaining popcorn flick with some great special effects. Some of the dialogue underestimates the audience's intelligence, however (instead of "show, don't tell" they practice "show AND tell", whcih I really don't appreciate). The role probably would have been wasted on a good actor, so Hayden was a good choice. The climax is really cool, and Samuel Jackson made a great villain. 8/10
Note: The Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull trailer was attached to this film in my theater. My God, that looks freakin' awesome!

Across The Universe 3/4- Well, I didn't expect to like this one as much as I did. Just watched it my brother & sis-in-law as a time killer. Had some very strange sequences, but the acting was pretty good and the music was fantastic. I'll have to pick up the soundtrack...

Had some very strange sequences, but the acting was pretty good and the music was fantastic. I'll have to pick up the soundtrack... Yeah, I loved it too. Didn't care much for the editing though. I think the "Prudence" character should have been cut out for the sake of pacing. While the actress was tremendously talented, she didn't move the story forward and just kinda stuck out like a sore thumb. But yeah, some very good things were done with this picture as well.
