3 WOMEN (1977)
Sissy Spacek plays Pinky, a shy, awkward girl who meets and becomes attached to co-worker Millie (Shelley Duvall). Millie is a loudmouth and fancies herself somewhat of a socialite when in reality people do their best to avoid her and usually just ignore her. An artist (Janice Rule) is the third woman and is kind of on the outskirts of the main story until much later in the movie. This Robert Altman film was kind of frustrating as I was watching it, but actually pretty good when I thought about it a little more. Duvall really shines in this one. Her character is funny and pathetic all at once.
7/10

There Will Be Blood (Paul Thomas Anderson) -- quite possibly the best picture of 2007. A.

Oh, ok. If it makes you feel any better, I DID have to travel a rather long distance to see it... kind of maddening now that it's playing about 10 minutes away. I still think it was worth the commute. Untraceable (2008, Gregory Hoblit) Meh. Not good, not bad... nothing we haven't seen before. You'll be better off renting Se7en. 5/10

THE ROAD WARRIOR (1981)

BACK TO THE FUTURE (1985)
My comments in the "Movie Genre of the Month" thread.
EATEN ALIVE (1977)
70's b-movie grindhouse trash about a psycho who runs a sleazy hotel in the Louisiana swamplands. People check in, but they don't check out. Seems that old Judd is killing the guests and then feeding them to his pet crocodile. Most of the characters are just annoying so you don't mind seeing them become dinnner for the croc. Not suspenseful or scary and not funny either. And on top of all that, the soundtrack was giving me a headache. Instruments that sounded like chimps were beating on them, mixed with the occasional scream or other "scary" sound effect. We never even get a decent shot of the croc. Just a crappy movie all around. Did I mention that this opus was directed by Tobe Hooper? Apparently, inbetween TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and POLTERGEIST, Mr. Hooper forgot how to direct or even build suspense.
We do however get to see a young Robert Englund say the line, "My name's Buck. I'm ready to fuck.". KILL BILL fans will recall that same line spoken by the hospital attendant. Tarantino knows his b-movies, that's for sure.
1/10

No Country for Old Men- The movie was a real acting tour-de-force. Tommy Lee Jones, Javier Bardem, and Josh Brolin were all great, it was suspenseful and well-shot. Really great film, but not the Coen brother's best. A-.

Rambo (2008, Sylvester Stallone)
Quite possibly the best new release this week. For all you blood-and-guts fans, this is right up your alley. Definitely a "guy" movie. Rocky Balboa was better, but I found this to be somewhat enjoyable. 7/10

Little Miss Sunshine (Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris): still holds up as such a great movie I've noticed though that a lot of people who aren't exactly fans at least those people who I know haven't really been on a road trip That family road trip before which makes it all the more likeable for those of us who have. A+.

Michael Clayton (2007, Tony Gilroy)
I stand by my original sentiment. This film does not deserve any of the nominations it received, except for Tom Wilkinson's for best supporting actor. This was an above-average thriller with good performances, but it's certainly not Oscar-worthy. It's a film that would have been great if it were released in the mid-80's, but today, it really doesn't stand out as much. Still, due to Tom Wilkinson's outstanding performance, 8/10
