THE DARK KNIGHT (2008)
Not sure why people around here are a little hesitant to talk about it in detail. It's just a movie, guys. To coin the movie's tagline, "Why so serious?".
Wrote a review.

Hey! No fair: I did talk about it. Then clearly I wasn't referring to you. I didn't say all people around here.

THE TOWERING INFERNO (1974)
Epic Irwin Allen 70's disaster film that is essentially a remake of THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE which was released a couple of years earlier. Remake in that it's the same type of formula, soap opera subplots, the mandatory all-star cast, similar characters, etc. Only the setting has been changed from a capsized ship to a burning building. See also, EARTHQUAKE and the AIRPORT series. This time Steve McQueen plays the fire chief battling the blaze and Paul Newman is the architect of the building. They are supported by William Holden, Fred Astaire, Faye Dunaway, Richard Chamberlain, Robert Vaughn, and (yikes!) O.J. Simpson as the head of the building's security. The effects still stand up and it's always fun when watching these movies to try to guess who's going to survive and who's not going to make it.
6.5/10

The Dark Knight which was truly awesome.
The Happening which was pretty good.
Terminator 2 which remains cool (the uncut version with a bunch of extra crap I forgot about).
Bender's Big Score: The Futurama movie.

Hoboken Hollow 0/4- really, REALLY, bad...there's nothing good I can say about it, except Michael Madsen was in it, and that didn't even help it much.
Enchanted 2/4 - Cute

Finally caught up with these two:
SUPERBAD (2007)
On the surface it's a raunchy teen comedy about a couple of high schoolers trying to get liquor for a party, so they can impress some girls and get laid. Beneath the surface, it's a coming of age tale about two lifelong friends dealing with the separation anxiety that they're going to go to different colleges. The teen leads are all very good, but the two cops are so cartoony that they almost seem like they're from a different movie, maybe SUPERTROOPERS? Not the most original or funniest movie I've ever seen, but it does have moments of comedic brilliance and even a heart.
7.5/10
MICHAEL CLAYTON (2007)
Michael Clayton (George Clooney) is a "fixer" for a huge law firm who is better at his job than his personal life. When a brilliant attorney (Tom Wilkinson) sabotages a huge case, Clayton is assigned to bring him home, but uncovers a much bigger plot which puts his own life in danger. The cast is great across the board, and the story is pretty good, but personally, I wouldn't have voted this a Best Picture nominee. The last 30 minutes or so are very good though.
7/10

I forgot to mention this one from before since I had to rush out to go to my grandmother:
Perry Mason: The Case of the Murdered Madam-1987 I was merely aware of this through other people saying the line as a joke and that Raymond Burr was Mason, but had no knowledge of who he was at all. It wasn't all that spectacular, mainly due to the fact that I was told it was a mystery story rather than a courtroom drama, which was even lower due to the surprisingly complicated backstory given here, which required a still-pretty long if shorter-than-expected courtroom scene. Probably going to be good for those who grew up with this but not for those who are just discovering the character. 5/10
After Heiney said this one doesn't count, I'm moving it back to here.
And when I was stuck with baby-sitting duties over the weekend for the kids who were at the reception:

Last night, the wife and I watched Otis. A bizarre horror/serial killer film with a Last House on the Left twist (and then another twist). Also, the most useless FBI agent on the planet.
