That's one of the ones from the After Dark Horrorfest thing isn't it? I'll have to see if that one's on my Netflix list, based on your good review.

Really look for it, although you might not have as much of a good time with it as you're not as die-hard 80s slasher fan as I am, which is what it's aimed at. You'll like it, but it won't be a 9.5/10 like it was for me. BTW, Sci-Fi Channel is airing 6 of the 8 from the Afterdark Horrorfest (Dark Ride isn't airing anymore and The Abandoned isn't at all) this month to coincide for Halloween. They'll be on the last two weekends before the holiday, I'll give you a heads-up closer to the actual dates (you won't remember them if I give them now)

THE WICKER MAN (2006)
Not a huge fan of the original and other than the shocking moment near the opening of this remake, there's not much to recommend this version either.
4/10

Wow, Heiney, for once you and I are dead on. I said the same thing in mine, and gave it the exact same rating on IMDb. Only difference is I enjoy the original. Not exactly a classic, but I find it enjoyable and much better done.

Kramer vs. Kramer- Funny, poignant, really pulls at the heart. Dustin Hoffman is amazing here and you root for him because you care about his character. Also, Justin Henry as his son is so great. One of the best performances by a kid in a movie. A+.

THE WICKER MAN (2006) Not a huge fan of the original and other than the shocking moment near the opening of this remake, there's not much to recommend this version either. 4/10 Much better score than I gave it. The only thing that movie was good for was to be riffed by Mike Nelson and company. And it was a rather easy riff... haven't seen it yet, but I plan to. I found the movie to be quite hilarious towards the end when he starts beating the crap out of every woman he can find... and then wears a bear suit. And for those of you not keeping track, it's supposed to be a serious thriller. The 400 Blows (1959, Francois Truffaut) Excellent. The pivotal film of the French New Wave, and probably the greatest film about adolescence ever made. You feel bad for the kid, really - even though he's not exactly a saint. Beautifully shot (they either really took care of that movie, or it was shot on indestructible film or something - the picture quality is perfect, even almost 50 years later). 10/10 Seven Samurai (1957, Akira Kurosawa) Kurosawa's finest film. At three hours length, it never loses my interest. Toshiro Mifune is fantastic, the battle sequences were well coordinated and beautifully shot. This one's on my top 10. 10/10 Elephant (2003, Gus Van Sant) I heard it was brilliant, and I've also heard it was an insult to teens (particularly my generation). In a way, it's both. Its brilliance comes from its realism. Gus Van Sant took the Robert Altman approach and made the actors talk over each other. Teens - particularly my generation - were not misrepresented, either. Thanks to hormones and such, they ARE overly emotional and dramatic. They DO think minor crap is the end of the world. In fact, I commend Gus Van Sant for actually making these characters three-dimensional. In spite of their imperfections, we really begin to connect with these characters, and the tragedy at the end of the film really hits hard. The brilliance comes from the fact that we know people like that. It's not perfect. At times, it does get a tad overdirected (possibly to make sure the film hits the 80 minute mark), but I still recommend it. 8/10

Resident Evil: Extinction (2007, Russell Mulcahy)
Not great, not terrible. Better than Apocalypse. The problem in the movie lies in the pacing - it's too damn fast. I would have loved to see more of that Vegas set piece, but alas, all we got as a fifteen minute fight scene. Expect a part 4. 6/10
Network (1976, Sidney Lumet)
"I'm as mad as Hell, and I'm not gonna take it anymore!" Classic. 10/10
