Ring Two, TheHere are a few statements that can be said about The Ring Two: 1. It is quite possibly the biggest letdown since Van Helsing. 2. To call it inferior to the first movie would be like calling Alone in the Dark inferior to Pulp Fiction. 3. It is inconsistent with its predecessor. 4. I'd say it's a ripoff of Godsend. 5. It sucks, and the writers of this piece of shit need to be horridly disfigured like the faces of Samara's victims. The score of this movie is elevated somewhat by Naomi Watts' performance and the Sissy Spacek scene. Other than that, this movie cannot be legitimately referred to as a "sequel", because it is merely just a "cash-in". Fuck this movie. 3/10 Saw it today. Agree with what Smitty and Phoenix said about it - a huge letdown! Please remember that I LOVED the US remake #1 and thought it was better than the original Ringu, but this... this... this isn't even a sequel. Really. Damn I'm pissed!

Just added:
Guess Who - Much better than I expected. Funny at the right moments, Bernie Mac is hilarious. 7/10
Oldboy (2003) - Let's put it this way: it gave me nightmares, and it's NOT a horror movie. 10/10
Sin City - (Full Review Coming Soon) Fresh air, where have you been all this time? If more movies like this get released, my criteria is about to get a lot tougher... Or I can go the Spinal Tap route: "These go to Eleven." 11/11 (10/10 is the actual score, but you get the joke.)

Fever Pitch - A different kind of movie for the Farrelly Bros., but it's still pretty good. Jimmy "Broke Character Too Much on SNL" Fallon surprised me with this one, he actually did a good job. If you're looking for a good laugh and like baseball, check this one out.
7.5/10

Just added:
Beauty Shop - Another "Better-than-expected" movie that I saw out of boredom. Queen Latifah is good (although I feel her talents could be put to better use), but the show is outright stolen by Kevin Bacon. Kevin Bacon's character elevates the movie's quality from "meh" to "good". Beauty Shop is a decent time-passer, but far from must-see material. 7/10

Amityville Horror, The - Well, it's almost 3:00am. Just got back from a midnight screening, and I am so very FREAKED out. Don't even MENTION the atrocity known as TCM 2003, I consider that a fluke. The Amityville Horror is the real deal. The last horror movie to freak me out like this one was the Ring, and I think this movie outspooked that one. I am scared to go to sleep. I got in the shower when I got home looking over my shoulder as I did it. I'm looking over my shoulder as I type this! I'm not going to be able to sleep in the dark for a while. I swear, with all the shit they've been passing off as Horror that past couple of years, it's nice to see a REAL horror flick like this one. Take a lesson, producers. THIS is how it's done. 10/10

Man, I am sooo glad to read that! Saw the trailer when we saw SC today & it gave me shivers & I was hoping that it was actually going to be a good movie. Sounds like it's going to be a GREAT movie! Thanx Smitty! You made my day.

I just read the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, and they weren't all that great... Just some critics who have it in for Michael Bay, I guess. But it's very rare I give a perfect 10 to a horror flick. VERY rare.
I haven't seen the original, but everyone I talked to who has seen both films agree that the remake is better.
Oh, and Ryan Reynolds surprised the Hell out of me. I really didn't think he could pull it off, but he did.

When I first watched the original it scared the bejesus outta me, but I was pretty young then so maybe that's why. I've watched it a few times since & it just didn't have the same effect. Although it's not a bad movie. The trailer for the new one scared me more than the orig. movie so I have high hopes!

Thanx for that Phoenix, that was interesting! You know, someone should do a film about the DeFeo murders. To me that would be much more scary since it actually happened.

The DaFeo murders were the ones that actually took place in the Amityville house. The movie's story documents the family that moved in AFTER the DaFeos.

I watched a special about the murders not too long ago. Pretty interesting story, I think it would make a pretty good movie.
