That's right, we talked about this earlier in the year, and now it's time to start thinking, what do WE think are the best in each category? Don't respond to this right away, be sure to watch any movie you think has a shot at the Oscar this year, if you need the time, take it. You have until January 24th to do this, the nominees will be announced on the 25th (the same day the actual Oscar nominees are announced). Send me in PM your top 10 (maximum) of the following categories:
Best Picture
Best Actor in a Leading Role
Best Actress in a Leading Role
Best Actor in a Supporting Role
Best Actress in a Supporting Role
Best Director
Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen
Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published
Best Cinematography
Best Art Decoration-Set Decoration
Best Costume Design
Best Sound
Best Editing
Best Sound Editing
Best Visual Effects
Best Makeup
Best Music, Original Song
Best Music, Original Score
Best Short Film, Animated
Best Short Film, Live Action
Best Documentary, Short Subjects
Best Documentary, Features
Best Foreign Language Film
Best Animated Feature
Of the titles you send me, I will select the top 5 and place them on a second nominee ballot, for you to vote on a winner. Remember, don't do this right away. Take the time to see some last-minute movies. You have until the 24th of January, so you have over a month of time to think about this.
Eligibility:
Fahrenheit 9/11 is NOT eligible for the best picture category, as it is a documentary.
Hero is also ineligible for any category, because it was made in 2002 and has already been nominated in 2003 for best foreign language film.
Foreign language films ARE eligible for best picture, as seen in 2001 with Wo hu cang long.
This is NOT restricted to movies that the critics liked. These are OUR nominees, so if your movie was bashed by the critics, it's still acceptable.
Any film released in 2003 is not eligible, unless it is a foreign language film. If you are unsure, check IMDb.
