Gotta make a new thread, gotta make...
...oh, okay, here is: lets talk about old and recent movies that were for some reasons impossible to watch and forced us to either exit the theatre or eject the disc.
Personally I'm a person who tries to digest most of the movie-crap but yesterday I simply couldn't: Miss Congeniality 2: Armed And Fabulous just knocked me out. I always adored Sandra Bullock but even a most beautiful woman is not reason enough for me to be fed 90 minutes of unfunny jokes. I can watch horrors that are nowhere near scary, sure, but a comedy without laughs is simply too much. The eject moment was after 20 minutes.

Sybillness and I agreed to eject the DVD of MOULIN ROUGE after about 45 minutes. Just wasn't our cup of tea.

I saw it at the theatre, however, so I watched it till the end. Never walked out of a movie - my preferred defence technique is falling asleep.

Mystic River
huh, what? Yeah, I mostly take out films that I've watched before.. kinda a curse.
but..
Gone with the Wind & Casablanca are films I let rolling while leaving the room & coming back to watch the end credits. ;D

Mystic River is a tricky one: at some point it gets a bit too slow and seems obvious, but in the end I was so damn glad I kept watching it!

I saw it at the theatre, however, so I watched it till the end. Never walked out of a movie - my preferred defence technique is falling asleep. My wife rented this and after about 10 minutes I was looking at the DVD case trying to see how much longer it was and couldn't find the time. Dear god I nearly lost my mind! It went on FOREVER! A movie should never turn you into a clock-watcher! I listed that I watched "The Terror" in the Roger Corman thread. In reality, I watched the first 10 minutes then left it running while I did other crap--like the dishes, because that was more appealing. Legion of the Dead (2001)--a friend and I rented this petrified shit and ended up fast-forwarding through the last 2/3 of the damn thing. Why not just stop? The case claimed it had nudity in it! We spend 5 minutes fast-forwarding to see a chick's ass for 3 seconds! That's it! It was one of those films with more swearing than a rap album in an apparently desperate effort to make the film seem "totally bad ass." But I sat through House of the Dead-- twice!

Personally, I like "The Terror." Might've been the cheap copy we have that ruined it for me. Never know. Never all that big on ghost stories anyway.

Okay, I have another one. GARFIELD. Based on the comic strip and animated series. I tried watching this last night, but dear God, I couldn't get past the first 30 minutes. Honestly, I should've turned it off after 10 minutes, but it was like a train wreck, I just coudn't turn away. Bill Murray provided Garfield's voice and he really should be embarassed. Well, I'm sure he collected a fat paycheck. Pure drivel. The first 30 minutes gets a 1/10. Did anybody actually watch this until the end??

I saw the last 10 minutes. What a waste of 10 minutes...and Eddie Deezen.

I've defended it before somewhere on the board. I just think it's a cute smaller kids movie. It's not meant to be watched by jaded adults, and the humor in it is pure innocent G-rated fun. I'm sure Bill Murray isn't embarrassed because the movie was a hit for the studio. Something like Cats vs. Dogs is much worse.

I loved Moulin Rouge!
Unfortunately, Baz Luhrmann has a very uncomfortable way of starting off his movies, but after the vomit-inducing introductions, his movies tend to be really good.

I DID walk out on Raise Your Voice, that horrid self-important tripe starring none other than Hilary Duff. I actually LIKED A Cinderella Story, and this was about six or seven steps down (probably more).
Why are people letting her live with the fantasy that she can sing (or lipsync like she did in this movie)? It was horrible, clichéd, and outright insulting. After about a half hour, at astonishingly the same time, my friends and I decided to just leave. It's not like we paid for it or anything.

Something like Cats vs. Dogs is much worse. I don't think that it's that I'm a "jaded adult". I watch, and own on dvd, quite a few of what would be considered "kid's movies", and I just found nothing to like about this flick. I think the TOY STORY movies, MONSTERS INC., BEAUTY & THE BEAST, THE LITTLE MERMAID, WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, THE WIZARD OF OZ, PINOCCHIO and a lot of other children's flicks are pretty brilliant. Maybe the "humor" in this one was just too kiddyish for me, but I swear, I didn't smile once in 30 minutes. And what I meant by Murray being embarassed is that I can't believe for one minute, that when he read that script he thought to himself, "This is genius! I'll do it!". The guy's just way too talented for this. For the record, CATS VS. DOGS sucked too. Which one sucked more? I don't know, I didn't finish watching that one either.
