Just saw for the first time (in its entirety, anyway) The Sound of Music. What a great movie! I didn't think they made musicals that long. But it covers so much ground! Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer are great... This is one of the greatest films of all time. Congrads on seeing this American classic! My family used to watch this for Thanksgiving every year. It's a good family film for sure.

Stand By Me
Unfortunately edited by AMC (why would they edit a movie on cable that was showing at midnight?), but still a powerful movie. I had to fight back the tears several times. A great tale of friendship and innocence lost, and even though it stars four kids, it is a very mature film.

Ok, I am going to confess the following sins that those in the Horror section know:
I have:
Own but haven't seen: Psycho Poltergeist The Serpent and the Rainbow Inferno Black Sunday The Mummy (59) Horror of Dracula (57) The Curse of Frankenstein (57) The Shining 28 Days Later (I hate to reveal this one, just blindly guessing in the Guess the Gore scene, Q.)The Evil Dead Christine Dead Ringers Bram Stokers Dracula (92) The Hills Have Eyes
Seen but do not own: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (74) Scream Carrie The Mummy (31) Dracula (31) Frankenstein (31) Alien Candyman Braindead (Dead Alive, this one is almost in the last category, I saw it on IFC once a few years ago, never seen it since) Creepshow Near Dark
Have not seen/do not own: The Exorcist Audition (Well, any Japanese horror film) The Fly (86) (I only mentioned it in the Toolbox review because of it's popularity) Any of the Basket Case films Re-Animator Martin Last House on the Left Any Italian cannibal flick
What happens now?

Until I've seen them all, or at least probation until I have seen the ones I do own?

You have a bail set: See them all before December. Or else you're in Movie Prison for life, where you'll suffer rape by really bad movies...and chille every day...

Yes, oh worthy masters. I shall return when I have completed one of them. Your most sincere patience and understanding on this matter is not lost on me and rest assured, it shall be done. No more other movies to watch. Only this list. It shall be done.

Good God, slayrrr666!! And you call yourself a horror fan?? We may have to just skip the Movie Police and go right to Movie Firing Squad! Yes, your crime is that heinous! I don't think I've seen a bigger MP crime since Smitty admitted he hadn't seen JAWS. Or Quorthon hadn't seen GODFATHER I & II. (How's that coming along Q?) Okay, any you've seen, but don't own is okay, because at least you've seen them. There's nothing in the Movie Police bi-laws that says you have to actually own any movies. Now, definitely see the ones you do own already! There's no excuse for that. Especially: PSYCHO (Classic horror, classic Hitchcock and the blueprint for many other horror/thriller movies to come.) THE SHINING (Not true to King's book, but very well made and some good creepy scares. And it's Kubrick. How bad could it be?) The rest I wouldn't say are really Movie Police worthy yet. And of the "Have not seen/do not own" list. I'd say these are your biggest Movie Police crimes: THE EXORCIST (Pretty much required viewing for any movie message board. The kind of film that the Movie Police was created for. I'd say, see this before anything else on your list.) THE FLY (86) (One of the all time best remakes, of any genre, ever made. And there's a brand new special edition DVD available of it. Now is the time to see it.) But I do like the idea of bringing donuts when you come back. Don't forget the ones with sprinkles. Ooh, and custard filled ones. Those are yummy. Now, get busy.

Went out and bought the TCM movie right after logging off, and stopped by on the donut shack. I've got three dozen: dozen each of glazed, sprinkles of all colors, and plain chocolate. I hope this sacrifice is fine for a first offense. I do have a review ready to be submitted, do I post it here or in Review Hell?
