Is there something about Coppola?

I get that look from my wife all the time... Somehow that doesn't suprise me. She must be a very patient woman.

Not yet, but I think she's trying. She was throwing hard candy at me last night and left a square bruise on my leg from a caramel.

Oh, I beat her up and stuffed her in a closet... I wonder if she's okay.... ERR! Um! I mean to say.... Actually not much, I said she was mean, she said I was mean, then she went to get ready for work and I went back to trying to spiffy-up my website.

American History X
Yet another movie I've waited much too long to see, but it is also one of the greatest films of all time. It says a thousand words about racism in our society, but so successfully avoids beating it into you that it ends up being an actual movie, and not just some preachy flick. And Edward Norton is one of the greatest actors of all time.

Brazil (1985)
Terry Gilliam's masterpiece, one of the funniest I've ever seen... and also one of the weirdest. Needless to say, I've been missing out.

Now watch "The Believer" (2001). It's a bit more brainy, but quite as powerful, over-all.

Causing a stir in Heineken's Essentials: I haven't seen Titanic.
Now his thread can go back to it's original intended use.

I'm turning myself in because I had never seen Chinatown, which is usually on every top 10 list there is for movies. I rented it from the library and it was fantastic. Perfection. 100% cool and very well directed, paced, and acted. Besides Maltese Falcon it's probably the best detective story I've ever seen.
10/10
I plan on renting Two Jakes next week to watch.
Apparently it was a planned trilogy for Polanski but then he had to flee the country. The IMDB trivia on the film is very interesting, I suggest anyone that is a fan of the film to read it.

Congrats on finally seeing CHINATOWN. I saw it years ago and I noticed it's been playing a lot on HBO lately. I meant to catch it the other day, but forgot.

Don't want to spoil your fun, Phoenix, but I found Two Jakes rather boring. This story could have worked perhaps - but only if Polanski helmed it, too. The pacing, especially, is very unfriendly.

Just saw for the first time (in its entirety, anyway) The Sound of Music. What a great movie! I didn't think they made musicals that long. But it covers so much ground! Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer are great... This is one of the greatest films of all time.
