I don't care for the Academy Awards that much, but with Chris Rock hosting, I'll tune in for sure.

From Cinema Confidential:
DUKES OF HAZZARD NEWS... Ben Jones, the original 'Cooter' in "The Dukes of Hazzard", is gunning to reprise his role for the film version.
The actor turned congressman - it's either to Congress or Smallville, Kansas, you end up after 'Dukes' I hear - says no one can play that character better than him. "Once you're Cooter, you're always Cooter", he tells wavy.com.
He's not taking it on the chin either. Jones has apparently penned a letter to the producers stating how unhappy he is with their casting choices. He thinks it should've been the original gang behind the wheel of the General-Lee. If need be, they can pass the torch to a 'next generation', sometime in the feature.
So far, the only actor that's name has been mentioned for the part of Cooter is Jon Reep - the "HEMI guy" in the Dodge Ram commercials - but no word if he's a lock for that part yet. Or atleast, Jones hopes not.

Well, we're getting ready for a pretty big shin-dig here in AR Thursday w/ the big opening of the new Clinton Political Library. Celebritities confirmed to attend the event are Bono & The Edge from U2, Ben Affleck, Tom Cruise, Meg Ryan, Ted Danson, and Barbara Streisand is rumored but not confirmed yet. Plus all the political dignitaries. If I thought I could get within a mile of the place I'd go just to get a glimpse of Bono & Edge. But the place is gonna be a mad house, plus all the security. I don't do well w/ crowds...

From Yahoo News:
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - It's the film contest you can't refuse: pick the 100 most memorable movie lines, ranging from "Casablanca"'s "Here's looking at you, kid" to a bit of classic advice from "The Godfather" -- "Leave the gun, take the cannolis."
The nonprofit American Film Institute (news - web sites), or AFI, said on Wednesday it had sent ballots to 1,500 members of the film community, including artists, critics and historians, with 400 quotes to choose from. They are even given space for write-in candidates.
The winners will be announced in a three-hour television program set for June 2005 on CBS.
"Casablanca" had seven quotes, the most of any film represented in the contest, including Humphrey Bogart's lament as bar owner Rick Blaine: "Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine."
Also among the "Casablanca" classic lines are "Round up the usual suspects," "We'll always have Paris" and Rick's stab at explaining life to his former love: "Ilsa, I'm no good at being noble, but it doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world."
Also among the entries are:"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" ("Gone with the Wind"), "Why don't you come up sometime and see me?" (Mae West's "She Done Him Wrong"), "May the Force be with you" ("Star Wars"), "I see dead people" (The Sixth Sense), "Houston, we have a problem" ("Apollo 13") and "Show me the money!" ("Jerry Maguire"). There's also Rita Hayworth (news)'s comment as Gilda in the movie of the same name: "If I'd been a ranch, they would have named me the Bar Nothing."
The earliest quote on the list came from the first full-length sound film, 1927's "The Jazz Singer": "Wait a minute, wait a minute. You ain't heard nothin' yet!"
"The Wizard of Oz" was the second most represented film with six quotes and Bogart was the most represented actor with 10 quotes on the ballot. Al Pacino and the Marx Brothers follow with six quotes each, including Groucho's comment from "Animal Crackers," "One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas, I don't know."
As for actresses, Bette Davis (news), Greta Garbo, Judy Garland and Vivien Leigh each have four memorable movie quotes on the ballot.
Billy Wilder was the most represented writer with 13 quotes while Frances Ford Coppola had nine quotes, seven of them from "The Godfather" including Vito Corleone's "I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse."
Other tid-bits:
Actor M.C. Gainey has been announced as playing Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane in the Dukes movie and Kevin Spacey has confirmed that he has been approached to play Lex Luther in the new Superman movie.

I had a feeling CASABLANCA would be way up there as far as memorable lines. That's one of those movies that even if you've never seen it, you've probably heard some of those famous lines repeated somewhere else. A couple of my own nominations: From another classic Bogart film, TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE, "Badges? Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!" From JAWS, "You're gonna need a bigger boat."

From JAWS, "You're gonna need a bigger boat." That is one of my favorite movie lines of all time. ;D Some of my other favorites that aren't in the 'main-stream classics' vein: "Psychos do not explode when sunlight hits them...I don't give a f*ck how crazy they are." Seth Gecko (George Clooney) From Dusk Til Dawn "Are you gonna bark all day little doggy, or are you gonna bite?" Mr. Blonde (Michael Madsen) Reservoir Dogs "What the f*ck are you bitches babbling about?" Jay (Jason Mewes) Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back

As with all sequels this could be good or bad....
from Moviehole:
Can’t say it’s a movie that really calls for one, but never the less, Bryan Singer’s Hollywood calling card “The Usual Suspects” is eyeing a follow-up.
Chazz Palminteri, one of the stars of the original whodunit, told WENN, that it’s coming along nicely. "They're past the talking about it stage." he said. "I'm looking forward to it. The title they like is Searching For Keyser Soze.”
Kevin Spacey headlined the 1995 film as a club-footed con man who recounts the saga of enigmatic Hungarian mobster Keyser Söze. Spacey's in a band of thieves that includes Gabriel Byrne, Stephen Baldwin, Kevin Pollak, and Benicio Del Toro, all gathered in a plot to steal a large shipment of cocaine. The story is told in flashback as a twisted plot being described by Spacey's character to an investigating detective (Chazz Palmintieri), who finally unravels the mystery in the film’s final moments.
Bryan Singer is tied up with "Superman" and "Logan's Run" for the next couple of years, so it's unlikely he'll be back to helm the sequel.
Dave Kujan, of US Customs, was unavailable for comment.

GODZILLA HONORED W/ STAR ON WALK OF FAME...
HOLLYWOOD (Reuters) - Fifty years after he first lumbered from the sea to breathe fire, trample cities and thrill generations of filmgoers, Japan's most famous movie monster, Godzilla, was honored on Monday with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The gargantuan reptile is the latest in a pantheon of famous critters, including Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny and Woody Woodpecker, to have his name enshrined on Hollywood Boulevard along with 2,200 flesh-and-blood stars, like Cary Grant and John Wayne.
Accepting the honor on behalf of the self-proclaimed "King of the Monsters" was the 5-foot-4-inch-tall Japanese actor who plays Godzilla on screen, Tsutomo Kitagawa. The actor donned the fearsome rubber suit he wears in his latest picture, "Godzilla Final Wars," which opens on Dec. 4 in Japan.

BLUES BROTHERS 3??
The amount of people that needed medical assistance after a matinee showing of "Blues Brothers 2000" was staggering. So much so, that star and flag-flyer Dan Aykroyd would surely never, ever, consider a second sequel...would he?
Talking to The Chicago Sun Times, the "Christmas with the Kranks" star announced that John's going to be spinning in his grave - again - he does indeed have plans for a "Blues Brothers 3".
"We might do it straight-to-DVD," he says. "I don't think we'd ever get the financing for another feature. Jimmy Belushi [John's brother] will play the heir to the throne of Albania in the next movie."
Belushi was originally rumoured to be the star of the abysmal "Blues Brothers 2000" before John Goodman stepped in.
From the sounds of it, Universal, who have been doing a slew of direct to disc sequels lately, have offered Ayrkoyd the chance to do a new installment for the Blockbuster brigade.
If you must do it lose the frickin' zombies this time, Aykroyd. Please.
CROW: WICKED PRAYER STRAIGHT TO VIDEO...
Poor old David Boreanaz. What looked like being the former "Angel" star's big jump into multiplexes - "The Crow : Wicked Prayer" - is instead skipping theatres and heading straight to disc.
Bloody Disgusting announced the news today - sourcing the print version of Variety - that the fourth chapter in the winged avenger series is headed the Blockbuster - as, ah, in 'video' - way.
However, this doesn't mean the film's woofer. After all, "The Crow : Salvation", the last entry in the series, skipped cinemas and in was quite good - a significant improvement over the steaming pile that was "Crow : City of Angels" anyway. And surely something with a cast that features Boreanaz, Dennis Hopper, Danny Trejo and Tara Reid has to be atleast worth a look, right? Personally, I look forward to checking it out. Director Lance Mungia's "Six String Samurai" was a treat. If this is half as nifty, It'll be well worth the seven or eight bucks they're charging for rentals these days.

Belushi was originally rumoured to be the star of the abysmal "Blues Brothers 2000" before John Goodman stepped in. If younger Belushi's in it - I'm interested. Actually, I really wanted the first sequel to feature Belushi, and when it turned out he's not there I decided to boycott it. I just wonder who's going to direct Part 3? John Landis seems risky these days...

This isn't actually movie-related but ESPN has a new original show coming on in January called "Tilt" starring...Michael Madsen! ;D ;D Aside from the fact that Mr. Madsen is in it I'm looking forward to it b/c it centers around these poker tournaments that they show on tv all the time. (They're very addictive if you ever start watching them. ) So it should be pretty cool. Hopefully this show will last longer than their last original show "Playmaker", which was VERY good by the way.

From Dark Horizons:
A subtle update made just in the last fortnight on the official TMNT site's FAQs page asks what's going on with a fourth movie: "We're currently working with a studio on a new film. If we can come to an agreement on the script and they can find a distributor for the movie (neither of which are guaranteed), we hope to have a new movie in theaters in 2007."
