Million Dollar Baby 4/4Wow...great movie!! Great story, great performances (Eastwood & Freeman played well against each other)...and yes, it made me teary-eyed.

The Killer Shrews--on Mystery Science Theater 3000. This movie was particularly horrendouslybad, but those robots did have some great comments! The movie on its own get a D-. But with the commentary, a C+!

O Brother Where Art Thou--oh Coen brothers, who else can make the KKK as funny as this? A.

"Undead" - Pretty good. The Alien aspect to the typical zombie fare makes for a nice change, though it did make you hope it all made sense at the end while it was going on. Luckily it did.

Kind Hearts and Coronets--the tagline says it all: "a hilarious study in the fine art of murder." Oh great, funny fun, brilliantly performed by Alec Guiness and so full of British humor (best line: "Hoskins is now going to thrash you"). Great. A.

Medusa- A great thriller.
New York, New York- A wonderful period drama.
High Noon- Great American western.
Dirty Harry- A "lucky" choice.
Bonnie and Clyde- Love all the action.
Mr. Smith goes to Washington- Awesome.
Deadtim Stories- A sucky anthology.

"Bulletproof Monk" - Chow is a joy to watch and to generally spend time with and it's fun enough. But it's basically fluff with far too many non-Martial Artists doing fights with the (often silly looking) aid of CGI, wires and stupid speeding up.
Better than I feared thanks to Chow and the enjoyable first half, but Chow should have been appearing in films far more substantial than this.
But it did at least put me in a 'Chow mood' and I ordered "Peach Hotel", "The Story of Wu Viet" ("God of Killers") and "The Fun the Luck and the Tycoon"

Two Evil Eyes- Creepy, good Poe adaptations. Harvey Keitel was awesome in The Black Cat.

Shaun of the Dead-My recent zombie craze continues, only now with a comedic twist. Still laugh-out loud funny, and does what few comedic movies do: keep the protagonist a serious threat instead of being used as set-ups for punchlines and gags. Enough gore for zombie fans, enough comedy for the mainstream crowd. Recommended viewing. 9.5/10.
Deep Rising-Not really a horror movie, and finally something to get me off my recent zombie fix. A favorite of mine for a long time, really creepy and hyper violent though. Lots of humor in some quite memorable one-liners and some situational puns, a far better experience now on DVD (wish there was a better version, this one is very bare bones) but I feel entertained. 9/10.

Both fine viewing. "Deep Rising" is shamefully ignored. It should have been a smash! Tons of entertainment and the most fun monster flick behind "Tremors". LOVE the Wes Studi/last bullet irony gag!!

Yeah, it is. I love Deep Rising. Cheesy good time, and doesn't try to pretend what it isn't: An A-grade action flick. To be honest, that bullet gag I expected to come after he missed the guy walking out of the room. This one really needs to get a better release on DVD, it's bare-bones release is pretty aggravating. This one is just screaming for a commentary.
