A Good Year - It gets a bad rep from critics who don't know better, but it's a pretty decent flick. It's not great, that's for damn sure. It DOES have some great moments in it. Russell Crowe and Albert Finney are brilliant. I do consider this a lesser Ridley Scott film. If you're a patient person, you shouldn't have much of a problem with it. B-/C+

Babel. I'm surprised to see so many so-so reviews of this. It's a powerful film - and meaningful, too, but the critics seem to be too lazy to look for the right message in it. If you liked 21 Grams and are ready to get an even more complex movie - read no reviews and just watch it!

Babel - I agree with Bart. Excellent film, one of the best this year. I smell an Oscar. At least in one of the acting categories. Everyone was excellent. I'm hoping to see a nomination for Adriana Barraza, who played the housekeeper. Very powerful performance that I am sure will get overlooked. Brad Pitt will at least get a nomination for Supporting Actor, if not the win. A+

THE TRANSPORTER 2 (2005)
Ridiculously over the top action flick. Some of the stunts are so silly it makes the adventures of James Bond and Indiana Jones look like they're grounded in reality. Remember when after LEON: THE PROFESSIONAL, Luc Besson was considered the next hot thing? And now he's co-writing this silliness? But to be honest, he pretty much lost me after THE FIFTH ELEMENT, which I realize has a huge cult following, but I feel was a missed opportunity. But I digress. Jason Statham is a pretty bad-ass and very watchable action hero and some of the fight scenes are of Jackie Chan level in their creativity.
Check your brain at the door and prepare to let yourself be slapped silly with a Ludicrous Stick.
4.5/10

Bart, you're gonna love my last viewed movie:
The Fury, which holds value for me as my first fully-viewed De Palma film (I don't count Mission: Impossible, it's not a genre film) so I figured I'd share it with you here.

Marie Antoinette - The first half is excellent, but the style gets old halfway through. The second half, I was glancing at my watch a lot more. But it has great cinematography, fine performances all around, and a quite suspenseful climax (which leads me to believe Sofia Coppola could make a real intense thriller if she wanted to). Overall, it falls short of greatness mainly because it drags. But still, it's good. B

Beowulf & Grendel (2005) - I saw it because I like Gerard Butler, and I liked the book. The movie wasn't exactly terrible (it was at times), it is extremely mediocre. I'm sure Robert Zemeckis will do the story of Beowulf much better next year. C-
Frankenstein (1930) - Excellent. While in the case of the books, Dracula was more enjoyable, Frankenstein made a much better movie. Sorry, Bela. You're Karloff's sidekick. A+
Bride of Frankenstein - Better than the original? Quite possibly. Very engaging, humorous at times, dramatic at times, and of course, genuinely frightening at times. A+
Let's Go to Prison - Pretty damn funny. More hit than miss - I forgive Dax Shephard for doing that Employee of the Month crap. My one complaint would be it's a half hour longer than it should be. B-
