The song is actually about how the mainstream totally misunderstands the (mostly underground) Metal scene, the meaning of the songs, the character of the people, etc. "You think we're all "Kill Your Mother, Rape Your Dog," but you don't fucking know so fuck off!" is pretty much the point. It's also anti-mainstream and against gigantic record labels churning out cookie-cutter crap with no thought to art and all thought to money. All that in a song that's less than 2 minutes long! I met the current vocalist of that band. Well, THAT explains why you like it.... I just found out that the guy I met is no longer with the band--he and another guy have apparently started something new. I still met him!

I'm listening to The Kinks now. "Lola," "You Really Got Me," "Picture Book," and loads more. The British Invasion kicked ass.

Don't forget the late 70's British Invasion: Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Venom, Celtic Frost! Playing right now: The Glow of the Setting Sun By: Nightrage From: Sweet Vengeance The band is much better than the relativly cheesy name implies. Melodic Death Metal.

Rotting Christ again, this time the song is "Between Times" from the "A Dead Poem" album.
Hey, before this was 4 and a half solid hours of Thrash Metal: Coroner, Slayer, Megadeth, Kreator, Nailbomb, Voodoocult, Anthrax, Toxic Holocaust, Motorhead (really, it's Psuedo-Thrash--as in, it led to the creation of Thrash Metal, but wasn't really), OverKill, Pantera. Yummy.

Or the 90s British Invasion...Radiohead, Oasis, Coldplay
Though generally when you say British Invasion (of music), its the 60s stuff that comes up.

The 70's invasion is better known as the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). And I forgot a few bands... Like Blitzkrieg, and I believe Diamond Head was British.

Elusive Emotion By: Nightrage From: Sweet Vengeance
(I'm becoming addicted to this album--the Death vocals, the clean vocals, the melodies, the energy... like it's shooting caffiene straight to my brain)
EDIT: Oh hey Bart, as I recall Death Metal isn't exactly your flavour (see, I used the "Euro" version of the word), but the clean vocals and melodies of this album might interest you.
In My Heart, Ethereal, Elusive Emotion, The Glow of the Setting Sun, and Circle of Pain (which is playing now) are all fantastic tracks.

Alrighty, will keep the name in mind. Now listening to the latest by Voodoo Hill (not Voodoocult, mind, which I also used to like): great, great, GREAT!

Voodoocult had the great Chuck Shuldiner in it on guitar. RIP Chuck!
What's Voodoo Hill like?
If you wanted, Bart, I have that Nightrage only on MP3 format. I could burn 'em to a disk for you if you wanted. Either as a music-CD or an MP3 disk.

We could probably exchange some music - Lordi from me, Nightrage from you... very well, will PM you on this! And Voodoo Hill? It's a hard rock band with Glenn Hughes on vocals - but what great guitar riffs there, whoa!

Oooohhh got it on shuffle now: Closing Eye By Desultory From Bitterness Ye olde Melodic Death/Doom Metal And hey Bart, here's an online list of all the tunes I have (unfortunately it's all just Metal, so my Army of Darkness soundtrack isn't on there, neither is my AC/DC collection) and you can puruse that if you like and I can fit whatever I can onto an MP3 disk, or burn a couple--I have a ton of blank CD's. "When isn't Quorthon listening to music and posting in this thread these days?!" you're all saying! I'm at work you silly people! And I can listen to tunes and I tend to always have another window open online in which I can screw around on message boards! Here we go again:
I'm doing three Motorhead Tracks:
I Got Mine, Shine, and my favorite: Killed By Death and then I'll move on to something else.
