Gee, guys, thanks for caring about the Masterton news so much... you know: "Anti-Claus"? Adapted for the Masters of Horror? And more weird movies based on the man's book? Remember? But this... Speaking of Mr. Bart the teacher... Bart in DEATH SCHOOL ("Try and learn how to survive!") Frankenjohn as the GOOD STUDENT, IAmTheSmitty as the ANGRY STUDENT, Pulpmariachi as the HAPPY STUDENT, Slayrrr666 as the EVIL STUDENT, special appearances by Michael Slade as THE PRINCIPAL, Spacer as the SCIENCE TEACHER, Quorthon as the ART TEACHER, Livingdeadgirl as THE LIBRARIAN, and Heineken Skywalker as JIM THE JANITOR. Rated R for strong graphic violence/gore, language, spitballs, metal, hard math questions, slipping on wet floors, Howard Stern, a gorilla with a craving for McDonalds, brief shower scenes, and maybe a diesel truck with an appetite for pancakes. ...now, this is just hilarious! ;D And vaderfan - Bubba Ho-Tep is recommended by all members of The Board, I think; hell, it even has it's own thread HERE.

Hey, you're a teacher, Q. I'm the fucking evil student. That's far more of an honor than mine, but I still relish it. I've never been bad.

Don't worry, Q. Emo is complete and utter shit, and I rarely swear when it comes to music. Emo, rap-core and any kind of music tht adds "core" to it is bullshit. I'd rather turn in a portrait realizing the track "1,000 Eyes." Now that would be art.

I'll agree to all of that.
Although, there is some decent Grindcore (Dying Fetus) and the occasional Hardcore track (Temple of the Morning Star by Today is the Day). But yeah, most -core stuff is real shit.

From MovieHole:
The man behind the glove, Robert Englund, tells Fangoria that the razor-nailed Freddy Krueger might be doing battle with Michael Myers in the next film.
“New Line Cinema has commissioned two scripts: One is Freddy vs. Jason and Michael Myers, or Freddy vs. Michael Myers, I’m not quite sure how that works,” Englund reveals. “The other one is a prequel; apparently it’s not that prequel script that’s been floating around for several years, it’s something new. They will select one of those two [projects].”
Englund recommended they bring “Halloween” villain Michael Mers into proceedings a while back, even suggesting original heroine Jamie Lee Curtis returned to reprise her role – from the “Halloween” films – as Laurie Strode for it.
Englund, who has always championed for an “Elm Street” prequel, is also in talks to star in a sequel to Dee Snider’s “Strangeland”. “Dee still has to find the right director; he’s a rock star and he’s a strong personality but he’s not an actor, so he really needs to trust a good director who shares his vision. My part has been expanded in this one, and it’s very clever and very smart. I’m hoping I will do that in 2006.”

Freddy Vs. Michael Myers, huh? Hell, why not?
Supposedly, Don Mancini, the writer of all of the Child's Play movies penned a treatment for a Freddy vs. Chucky movie--and rumor had it that New Line Cinema was interested in it.
In Freddy vs. Jason, I cheered for Freddy.
In a Freddy vs. Michael Myers, I'd cheer for Freddy.
In a Freddy vs. Chucky, I'd cheer for Chucky.
For no apparent reason, I'll list one of my favorite scenes in Child's Play 2: When the cop pulls the chick over and he sees Chucky in the passanger seat. And he's thrilled at the doll that talks to you, so he asks the doll's name. Chucky turns, and in his normal voice, says annoyed, "Chucky." Then his nose bleeds. Super fun.

I love that scene, Q. It was great. Pretty funny. I always saw Dying Fetus as more grindcore-influenced Death Metal band, like Napalm Death or Bolt Thrower. I'd cheer for Freddy too. I miss him. All I have of him is the box set and Freddy vs. Jason. I want to see him come back. Good find, livingdeadgirl.

I miss ol' Freddy too. Guess I need to drag out my box set, haven't watched any of them in awhile. Started watching Freddy vs Jason the other night & fell asleep.

I just read this in Empire Magazine:
We spoke to our old pal, legendary horror film director George A. Romero, ooh, about an hour ago, ostensibly to talk about the upcoming DVD release of Land Of The Dead (out on Boxing Day, folks).
But what kind of movie news service would we be if we didn’t take the time to ask him about his upcoming movies – and, to our surprise, the ever-affable Romero told us that a fifth Dead movie is very much on the cards.
“Now that Land of the Dead did so well in European markets and Japan, and the DVD is flying off shelves, there’s talk of a sequel,” he confirmed.
We say ‘surprised’ because, last time we encountered Romero back in August, he was somewhat down after the movie hadn’t performed well at the US box office, where it had been thrown up against the likes of Batman Begins and War Of The Worlds. But since then, the movie has caught on around the world and Universal/Rogue Pictures and Atmosphere, the production company behind Land are sniffing around a follow-up.
If it happens, a new Dead movie will follow the surviving characters from Land on their journey north, and as such will mark the first time Romero has made a direct sequel to one of his zombie flicks. And this time, there won’t be a lengthy gap between films.
“Frankly, I was ok with that,” because I’d much rather wait for something to happen, laughed Romero, referring to the political subtext that underpins each of his zombie movies. “If they nuke Washington, then I’ve got something. It won’t be in April but it might now be August or something. I hope to God we don’t have to do the winter again, but there’s a real buzz happening now about a sequel.”
Land Part Deux puts Romero’s two planned Stephen King adaptations, From A Buick 8 and The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, on the back burner for a while yet. From A Buick 8, a tender coming of age fantasy that just happens to revolve around a car from an alien dimension, had only recently been announced as Romero’s next project.
“There’s no deal,” he said. “There’s no ink on paper. I have no idea if that’s first, or if Tom Gordon’s first. It’s all about who writes the first cheque. I like ‘em, I wrote screenplays for both of ‘em and I’m very comfortable with where they sit right now. But it’s all about which one gets going first.”

Empire Online (http://www.empireonline.co.uk) got to speaking with Wes Craven, who directed the original "The Hills Have Eyes" and is now producing the remake for director Alexandre Aja. The new, updated version starring Aaron Stanford, Kathleen Quinlan and Ted Levine would receive an NC-17 rating if it were submitted as it is now.
“It’s a very strong picture and we’re trying to figure out what to do with that, without ruining it,” he says, adding that the film is trying to be edited down to an R at the very least.
“It's intense. Very intense. The attack on the trailer in my film was horrible, but it was over fairly fast,” says Craven. “This one goes on almost ten full minutes. It’s fairly faithful to the original, but Alex added other things that also make it worse, what’s happening to these people. It’s protracted. It’s a long, slow process rather than being a chaotic, relatively fast process. It’s just too much for people that have to rate it, by a mile.”
