Another good classic vampire flick, this - though from what I remember it didn't make my list after all. Not one of Hammer's very best horror movies, but much better than many of their Lee-starring Dracula sequels.

Number 14 Votes: 2 Total Points: 110OOPS! Suddenly I realized that I deprived all of you of the actual #14 on the list as I had managed to mismanage the list! Vampyros Lesbos actually snagged this spot, not Blade II. Shame to miss a film that promises hot lesbian vampire fun!

Ah, the best of the BLADE trilogy.

Agree with Heineken - I like the second movie much more than parts 1 and 3 (even though they are both at least decent).

Agreed. Guillermo Del Toro, man.

Ah, one of my entries finally made it to the list!
I, too, think this was the best movie in the Blade trilogy... Between this and Hellboy II, it seems Del toro really has a talent for comic book movie sequels [more so because in both cases he used an original story instead of adapting a previous storyline from the source comic book]

Number 13 Votes: 2 Total Points: 120Blade II marks the first sequel on the list! Also the first appearance of anything that was originally based on comics rather than being written specifically for a film. And, I believe, it's the first incarnation of any half-human vampires coming into the fray! (Note: Somehow I missed the actual #14 and put this in it's place, but rest assured, after much time had passed, I caught it! Damn!)

Number 12 Votes: 3 Total Points: 125 Remember that film from the 80's that featured a lot of violence and happened to include Bill Paxton and Lance Henrickson? You do? Yeah, I also love and remember Aliens. Of course, there was also this grisley little gem featuring a surpringly white-trash take on vampires in the American midwest! Near Dark gores it's way to #12 on the list! (And don't worry, I double checked so that I didn't miss another lesbian vampire film!)

Definitely one of Jess Franco's best films and the most enjoyable movie of its type (i.e. featuring vampires and lesbians) that I've seen so far. Near Dark is fun, too - great acting from Henriksen and Paxton!

Number 11 Votes: 4 Total Points: 130The most recent movie on the list splatters its way to the #11 spot! Following a new trend of looking to the comics to make movies, 30 Days of Night managed a film with a lot of vampire violence, tons of atmosphere, a unique idea, creepy vampires, and almost no dialog at all!

Jenette Goldstein was also in both of those movies. Oh yeah, and I also agree that Blade 2 is the best of that series.

Horror maestro John Carpenter makes his appearance on the list! His south-western United States romp marks the second on the list taking place in such a location after Near Dark. Keeping with traditional vampire rules, Carpenter heralded a unique take on the story instead focusing on Vatican-sponsored vampire hunters rather than the vampires themselves! Sorry about the uneven manner I've been assembling the list, I've had an interesting couple of weeks. First I worked painful 12-hour shifts for the Guard during the Republican National Convention on a computer system that failed to work, while simultaneously dealing with an ever-growing itchy rash on my thigh that 4 doctors couldn't really agree on! What is it? Who knows! Could be lyme disease! Damn did it itch! Hooray!

Sorry to hear about your recent problems... THAT's one hell of a couple weeks.
As for the movie --good, another one I voted for! I'm not sure what it is about Vampires that made it so special, but it's one of my favorite blends of action and horror movies (Aliens being another one).
Did anyone see the sequel, through (I think it was called Vampires: los muertos)? Would you recommend it?

I saw the sequel - it's watchable but not as good as the original (Jon Bon Jovi's main character is, rather obviously, not as charismatic as James Woods'). The only thing that surprised me in it was great acting from Diego Luna, as this was the first movie in which I saw him. Some vampire killing scenes were alright, too.
