Hey everyone! Here's the big moment, the begining of the end! Your votes compiled on your favorite blood-sucking vampire films! How the places are made: Out of a list of up to 15 choices, each film is given a point value by fives. So, you're first choice on your list gets 75 points, the second gets 70 points, the third 65 points and on to the 15th with 5 points. Why was this done? Because there aren't a whole helluva lot of us ghouls voting here and this prevents too many tie votes. I'm sure no one is surprised that something films ended up with a tied number of votes elsewhere! The median vote total was 12 or 13 films voted per person, with the most coming in at 15, and the least at 10. However, there is a minor change--there are no honorable mentions! Just 20 top films as my original calculation had one film listed twice under different titles. The only films chosen were the ones to receive more than two votes. So, here we go! Number 20 Votes: 2 Point Total: 40Scream, Blacula, Scream starts the list off with some Blacksploitation from the 70's! Probably just one of the surprise appearances on the list! And trust me, there are a few surprise placements!

I like this one a lot - it's arguably better than the first movie (although the first one had a cooler soundtrack) and it's one of these they-don't-make'em-like-that-anymore horror flicks. A great performance by William Marshall in both Blacula films!

Number 19 Votes: 2 Total Points: 50The horror/comedy with Dennis Miller as a protagonist and Angie Everhart (being about the only woman in the movie not featured in some nude scene) slams the 19th position. You see? The classiness of this list continues it's full-bore momentum! (And Corey Feldman makes his first appearance on the list!)

A "classy" list of vampire films would be boring. It's great that next to valuable, meaningful and ambitious vampire flicks there are also many camp, cheap and crappy ones - some of them very entertaining despite the total lack of artistic merit.
Haven't seen Bordello of Blood, unfortunately. Now I know I need to get it - #19 has to mean something, right?

This one IS surprising (to me, at least). So far, this is very good. I like it when this kind of lists include movies you wouldn't expect.

Number 18 Votes: 2 Point Total: 65Subspecies marks the appearance of none other than crap-generator Full Moon productions to the list! But, it got two votes and scored 18th out of over 50 vampire movies, so they must've gotten something right at least once!

Is it the best I've ever seen? No...but there's just something about it. I've tried to watch Bordello of Blood but couldn't ever make it all the way through it, just didn't like it.

Number 17 Votes: 2 Total Points: 75The original film version of I Am Legend howls it's way to the list! You know, before that last version that massively blurred the line as to whether or not the "mutated" humans were vampires or more zombie-like creatures. This also marks the first appearance of Vincent Price on the list!

I remember seeing it in the theater with my older brother, his wife, my younger brother, and my Mom of all people. Dennis Miller spent the bulk of the film cracking jokes, but it still retained much of that Tales From the Crypt feel--though not quite as much as Demon Knight.

Agree - I was the other person to vote for it. The further parts of Subspecies weren't as good as the first one, but it's all fun stuff, with some very good atmosphere - and the (often poor) old-school special effects only make it more likeable.

Number 16 Votes: 3 Total Points: 75 Salem's Lot managed enough popularity to break the bonds of it being "only a TV movie." It's popularity made it an exception to the "feature films only" rule. Though, as anyone who's seen Stephen King's It knows, even his made-for-TV style works can be over-the-top scary. Also, an apology in that it took me so long to get this up. I've had an "off" week when, on Sunday, the transmission in my Blazer up and died on me forcing us into a delicate situation. We didn't quite have the time or money to get it fixed right now, and defaulted to Plan 9 From the Southern Suburbs: We didn't have enough cash to fix the Blazer (right now), but we had enough to buy some old beater from someone else as a temporary replacement and back-up vehicle. Friday, I have to leave for some Army training for a week, so I'll try to get in one more of these before that hiatus. Sorry guys!

I was waiting until the whole thing was done before I said anything, but hope you get that all taken care of soon.
And, if you don't finish, I could always finish it up for you. It's your call though, just offering to help out.

I think I forgot to put Salem's Lot on my list.... but I do really like this one too. I've also seen the remake (with Rob Lowe playing Ben), but of course not nearly good as the original.

I even like A Return To Salem's Lot, to be honest, even if everyone else seems to despise it. It's got some creepy atmosphere, great acting from Michael Moriarty - and it's a Larry Cohen film, so I just HAVE TO like!

Number 15 Votes: 2 Total Points: 80Salem's Lot marks the only film to be wildly out-done by films that actually received fewer votes and the first usurper-- The Vampire Lovers--now finds it's way here as a Board-voted favorite vampire film! Go classic shlock!
