YO!
Just wondering if anyone else is taking in HBO's original series, Rome. We watched the first episode last night (On Demand!) and it was pretty good, but lacked some proper set-up for the show.
It would seem to take place around or slighty before the Roman Empire became split into 2 empires, the Eastern and Western halves. I came to this conclusion because: Marc Antony has been shown, but is not yet in a position of power, and he ruled over (as I recall) Eastern Rome and was the one that had an affair with Cleopatra. I could be mistaken, so don't take my word for it. Especially if you see the intellectual beating Spacer's handing down on me in the Quizz thread. My brain's getting it's ass (medula oblongotta?) kicked.

Sunday nights on HBO, 8:00 pm central I believe. But I don't need to know exactly with the On Demand, we can watch it any time.

Saw the first episode as well. Not yet sure if it's going to join the ranks of my other "must see" HBO programs, ie: SOPRANOS, DEADWOOD & CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, but I did enjoy it.

I took Roman History in college Quorth, and it's very accurate for the time. Since I'm familiar with all the characters and rituals I thought it was superb. Def will be on my 'must see' list every week.

The Empire didn't split into the East and West until 284 AD (3rd century).
The first episode of Rome is during the time period of Ceasar when he conquered the Gaul (now France) in 59BC - EXPANDING the Roman Empire.

I may finally be getting HBO in a day or two, so watch out for me joining this thread: Rome sounds very good to me. What else worth watching is there? Never had this channel before, you know, so I'm kind of excited.

Last night's episode of ROME was excellent. Even better than the first. Lots of sex in the second episode too. Bart, when you get HBO, check out THE SOPRANOS, DEADWOOD & because you're a Seinfeld fan, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, as well as ROME. I've never watched it, but I hear SIX FEET UNDER is great also.

I second Heineken's assessment of episode 2 of Rome. Watched it last night and it was A+.
