But of course I know what you mean; until The Sixth Sense hit the cinemas, people started slowly forgetting what is a real suspense, and usually they were satisfied with Shyamalan's blast from the classic Hitchcock past. With Signs it wasn't so surprising anymore just because not so many years passed between this and The Sixth Sense - therefore people started complaining more. And you know what's even more scary than all this? I actually liked the alien looks in Signs! I did!

"And you know what's even more scary than all this? I actually liked the alien looks in Signs! I did!" Me too. They looked like 'aliens'! What did people expect or want them to look like?? Ridley Scott's "alien"?? E.T.?? The Predator?? They looked like the traditional aliens that people are always claiming to have been abducted by. Large heads, big black eyes, greyish skin, thin limbs, etc. Oh well. Can't please everybody, I guess.

ET was too cute to be an alien. But seriously, yeah, if they hadn't looked like the traditional alien people woud've bitched about that too. But you're right about not being able to please everyone.

found this on Cinema Confidential:
"Both Ain't it Cool News (http://www.aintitcool.com) and the Philadelphia Daily News are reporting that M. Night Shyamlan has called back Sigourney Weaver, William Hurt, Joaquin Phoenix, and Bryce Howard for a three-day reshoot for the ending of "The Village," which is scheduled to open in theaters July 30th.
While the studio denies that the shoot was the filming of a new ending, several key members of the production have claimed that it is, indeed, a different conclusion.
Speculation comes that Shyamalan has opted for a new ending after it was leaked in script reviews on the Internet."
Interesting...

This is true crap:
Some guy got a copy of the script off the internet and was able to guess the twist, and M. isn't ready to give up his position of "King of the Twist Ending."

So would you lend any credence of truth to this or just take it as a rumor?

From Dark Horizons:
The Sci Fi Channel is airing a documentary on M. Night Shyamalan titled, "Portrait Of A Filmmaker: M. Night Shyamalan". Episodes will air simultaneous to the release of Shyamalan's "The Village" this coming summer.

Saw it tonight and was all set to be disappointed, thanks to all the negative reviews, but actually liked it quite a bit. Great acting by everybody, especially Bryce Dallas Howard as Ivy Walker & Adrien Brody as Noah Percy. Nice atmosphere, you get a feeling of dread in the woods without it neccesarily being dark all the time. A few good moments of suspense. The usual Shayamalan "slow & easy" pace. Some would call it boring, but I enjoy the way his movies slowly unfold to tell their story. I won't go into any plot details so as to not give anything away, but will say that if you're expecting an all-out horror movie then don't. The ads are a bit misleading.
How would I rate it from 1 - 10 on the "Shayamalan-O-Meter"? THE SIXTH SENSE - 9/10 UNBREAKABLE - 8/10 SIGNS - 7.5/10 THE VILLAGE - 7/10
Yes, it's my least favorite of his movies so far, but it's still not bad, and better than your usual summer crap.

A BIT misleading? I'm really pissed off at the advertising team behind the trailers/posters. Shyamalan is known for his perfection of the suspense genre, but that doesn't mean that's all he does. Why are they going to advertise this as one of those movies?
Don't get me wrong, I liked this movie (and gave it the same score you did), but was very disappointed. I hate when Hollywood does that. Seriously, I do.
