Just got through watching the trailer for The Village....looks to be pretty good! This is the only movie (besides KBVol. 2) that I've been excited about seeing lately. I really like Shyamalan's other movies, hopefully this one will be just as good!

Yeah, M. Night Shyamalan is cool. I loved the Sixth Sense and Signs... I haven't seen Unbearable. Is that any good?

I haven't seen Unbearable. Is that any good? You mean UNBREAKABLE? Or were you kidding? Either way, I liked it a lot, but it definitely seems to have divided audiences. I think quite a few thought it was too slow and because it's kind of a "superhero" movie they were expecting more action. I liked SIGNS & THE SIXTH SENSE quite a bit too, so I'm definitely looking forward to THE VILLAGE. Here's the link for anyone who wants to enjoy the creepy goodness: thevillage.movies.go.com/

Oops. Did I type that? Yeah, I meant Unbreakable. Stupid grammatical error.

Shyamalan is becoming one of my favorite directors, I've loved everything he's done so far. I like The Sixth Sense better than Unbreakable, but Signs was my favorite. Maybe The Village will be the next movie that will give me that good creepy feeling that I was talking about in the Movies that Scared You thread. I can only hope anyway! And it's good to see Jaoquin again in a Shyamalan pic.

His last three movies were very good and had a unique feel giving the Hitchcockian meaning of suspense a new twist. Unbreakable is, in fact, my favourite Shyamalan movie so far: has the most powerful twist, the strangest plot and Samuel L. Jackson. Needless to say: in my case The Village is one of the most awaited movies this year.
Oh, and one more thing - some of you may not know that The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs are not his only movies; he also directed Praying With Anger and Wide Awake during the nineties. Anyone saw them, maybe?

I haven't seen those, I'll have to check them out! ;D Are they as good as the others,in your opinion?

I haven't seen them, either. Wide Awake is more easily available, and I know some people like it, but it's not a suspense flick like his next ones - a drama? a comedy? ...I'm not sure - so I wasn't crazy about buying it when I saw it on VHS. And haven't seen it anywhere to rent.

I can't wait to see The Village! I really enjoy M. Night's movies. I haven't seen the two that Bartwald mentioned he directed in the nineties, but I've seen Unbreakable, The Sixth Sense and Signs and I loved every one of them. The suspense in his movies keeps me literally on the edge of my seat.
**SPOILER** When I saw Signs, I even gasped out loud in the theater when you finally catch a glimpse of alien in the reflection on the TV. I haven't reacted like that to a suspense or horror movie since I was a kid!

Also the scene when the alien is locked in the pantry & Mel is looking under the door & the fingers come out....I almost ended up in the lap of the guy in the row behind me. ;D Great stuff!!

See what he's doing to us, this M. Night?
After Signs many people complained that it was poor because of how the aliens looked but they were probably forgetting all the suspense Shyamalan filled this movie with! Unfair.

Watched the extended trailer last night. I'm still excited about seeing this movie! The monsters are probably going to have that same pretentious look as the aliens in Signs (as Bart pointed out), but the suspense had me on the edge of my couch, so I am there!
I'm intrigued by the use and non use of color in this film as well. "Red attracts them". I just really can't wait to see the whole look of this film. Does anyone know if M. Night wrote himself a part in this movie too?

I agree w/ you 100% Bart....to me the suspense & atmosphere of the movie are more important than what the "alien" looks like. I mean, I've watched the movie a lot & I couldn't describe what the alien looked like but I can sure tell you what scenes made me jump outta my seat. Know what I mean? To me, I've always thought that movies were better when they left a lot to the imagination of the viewer, b/c what we can imagine is usually ALOT more scary than anything they could put on the screen!
