Despite not being a horror movie THREADS has scared me more than anything else I have seen . It follows the aftermath of a nuclear attack on an English city .
The cold war is ended but I did see THREADS a few months ago after last seeing it almost 20 yeasrs previously and was still unable to sleep well

I was a big chicken sheet for the longest time to watch horror movies, even as an adult. Alien finally broke me in as I watched it on the tube. I remember being on the edge of seat, when suddenly the Alien was shown in the vents. BANG, I went flying back against the couch.

Last movie that scared me was (sorry for that, Smitty ) Open Water. I watched many horror films after it but there was no sense of pure dread to match OW in any of them. Which does not necessarily mean they were all BAD horror films, you know.

Again...Dawn of the Dead (remake). Though I recently watched Romero's Day of the Dead and it was superb!

My problem may be that I haven't seen The Grudge yet.

Just saw the Grudge in the cheap theater, and holy frig. That had to be the ultimate horror scare for me to date.
Try watching that one downstairs in your house by yourself. good luck.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation
Truly scary that any living person with or without severe mental disorders would think making this movie would be a good idea for any reason whatsoever. Troll 2 was practically more tolerable.
Last film to actually scare Quorthon? .... Signs left me a little anxious the night Quorthon saw it. Other than that, there is nary a movie made that could scare Quorthon, and as such, there is nary a film in existence too violent for Quorthon to tolerate.

Last movie that scared me...well at the cinema it must be The Grudge. I found it hard to follow the plot [ I haven't seen the Japanese ones] but it really was just one scare after another. It didn't even bother with a gradual build up. It just concnetrated on scaring you.
On TV/DVD, well probably The Others, a few weeks ago,I'd seen it before at the cinema and remembered the twist but it still worked for me.
Caught the slightly similar The Innocents a few weeks before, I'd never seen this classic nor any other version of it before. I thought it was terrifying despite being in black and white. The ghost on the riverbank, I would have stopped the film for a minute if it had been a video or a DVD!
Can't say Blair Witch really worked for me, maybe it was the hype about how frightening it was that ruined it a little for me.
