Personally, even though I consider it more of a comedy, I have no problem with it being discussed in the Horror section. It definitely has enough horror elements in it to not seem completely out of place.

From IMDB:
First there was George Romero's classic 1978 zombie movie Dawn of the Dead. Then, last year, came the spoof of the movie, Shaun of the Dead. Now, Romero has a new film in the works, Land of the Dead, in which members of the cast of last year's spoof will be featured, one of the stars of the new movies has disclosed. John Leguizamo, who says he plays "a zombie killer" in the new movie, told the website ComingSoon.net, "I've got my own hypothesis too about [why Romero included the Shaun cast]. ... The beauty about Romero is that there's always been a sense of humor about things. I mean, there's always a little bit of a wink to it."

Yeah, cool for Romero.
But Shaun of the Dead isn't a spoof of the Day of the Dead movies, though. It homages it a bunch of times, doesn't it?

Yeah, cool for Romero. But Shaun of the Dead isn't a spoof of the Day of the Dead movies, though. It homages it a bunch of times, doesn't it? Shaun of the Dead is def more of an homage - the creators of it do say though that their movie is supposed to take place during the same time as all of the Romero movies. So it's the same 'zombie universe.' So it will be easy for Romero to incorperate the characters from Shaun. I have high hopes for this movie!

I recently got to see Shaun...., I thought it was pretty good, but they showed the most funny parts in the previews. But nevertheless, the new Romero movie sounds great!

One of the best films of 2004, hands down.

I really want to see this. I'm tempted to buy the DVD even thought I haven't seen the film.

Good movie with a nice taste of humour. I liked the scene when he went to the shop to buy a beer and almost slipped in blood puddle. The best trick was with Shaun didn't paying attention to all the mess around. There was also something deeper in it, a hidden message that all or many people live livelessly like zombies. It got a lot of typical British humour too like the scene when two groups meet during the escape and exchange all necessary small talk. But it lacked something too, I didn't laugh loudly at all. Sometimes the action was too grotesque to me like the scene in the beer cellar where they talk like if nothing was happening around them. It's hard to make a complete comedy even with zombies.

I thought the movie was quite good and was a more enjoyable romp than Dawn remake. Dawn remake was good but I prefer the zombie that doesn't look like it has just come out of a fitness center/Gym.

Saw this last night recorded off the telly. Perhaps not QUITE as good as claimed, but still impressive,a film that is indisputibly British but is not a bloody rom com or gangster movie. I did laugh a few times, and there was still a surprising amount of gore for a {well, kind of} comedy. I liked the referances to other zombie films which were there for the fans to pick up without beating you over the head with them. Will be picking up the DVD in the nest few days, that's for sure

This, and Dog Soldiers, are the only British horror since 1975 that are any good. A true classic of the genre, more entertaining than any of the Romero films, truly funny comedy, a healthy sense of respect for the villains of the piece and a touch of class at times. 10/10 without feeling any ounce of regret or remorse.
