Which were those three movies? I have a hobby of hunting down unusual movies and books, so of course I'm interested in them.
Yeah, our production of horror cinema is pretty low, but we did get a few good ones now and then. But as I said, low: in the entire '90's decade we got two horror movies that I know of, Sobrenatural and Angelus (neither very good at all), and maybe two in this decade, "Chaman: viento de muerte" (haven't seen it) and "Las Lloronas" (nice try, but the atrocious acting ruined it --nice poster, thro'). I have been making research for a list of mexican horror movies for a couple years now, and I still haven't managed to find more than 8 or 9 movies (not counting all the Santo movies, which are fun to watch, but in a B-movie way). And sadly, about 1 out of 5 is really good. Oh, well.

The Polish horror movies I mentioned before are:
Wilczyca (She-Wolf; usually translated as The Wolf though) - 1983 Powrót wilczycy (Return Of The Wolf) - 1990 Lubiê nietoperze (I Like Bats) - 1986
She-Wolf was getting good reviews when it first appeared and is now a cult movie in Poland; unfortunately its sequel - Return Of The Wolf - was usually perceived as disappointing. I Like Bats didn't get too many thumbs up, either. Here's what Embalmer wrote about it on IMDb:
"Polish horror movies are incredibly rare, but this vampire laugh-fest is truly awful. Extremely boring, badly acted and stupid it features the most laughable depiction of vampires ever put to film. If you want good Polish horror check out "Wilczyca"(1983)or "Mara"(1985). Avoid this steaming pile of crap like the plague."
Yes, so there's one more Polish horror flick - Mara (Nightmare) but this one's VERY obscure, myself I couldn't find it anywhere. Probably The Wolf is the best title to search for, then. But we're still waiting for a DVD with it.

Evil Dead II could as well appear on my list (I think it didn't). And I still had no chance to see Shaun Of The Dead - this one must be good!

Carpenter was promising us a new Thing recently. But should we believe him? Or should we be happy about it, really? I'm not sure about either of these.
Last I heard of The Thing Strikes Again!, it once again came back to the dusty lowest shelf in the waiting room of the development hell.

I don't really like horror films, but there are a few specific movies that I like: 1) The original "Psycho" 2) Jaws 3) The original "Night of the Living Dead" 4) Aliens That's it. As I said, I'm not a big horror movie fan (and I haven't yet seen a lot of the classics).

I've been wanting to see it, the trailers are frickin' hilarious. ;D I don't think it's showing anywhere around here though so I'll probably have to wait for the dvd.

it's much much darker than the tarilers give it credit.
Some real violence and pathos.
Plus, you'll finally understand my lttle signature down the bottom of my posts.

Yeah, I was wondering if it was a pure comedy, b/c that's what the trailers kinda make ya think, or if it was dark. Anyway, can't wait to see it!

I really loved 28 Days Later.... recently, by the way. I also checked out Darkness Falls b.c you guys were talking about it. i SO wasn't impressed! I switched it off at the one hour mark. The story stopped going anywhere at that point.

Those are some good choices, Clifford --particularly The cabinet of Dr. Caligary. Likewise with your signature choices --Cinema Paradiso in particular, I remember it fondly. I also checked out Darkness Falls b.c you guys were talking about it. i SO wasn't impressed! I switched it off at the one hour mark. The story stopped going anywhere at that point. Agree, and anyway you didn't really miss anything. I don't know if it's because of the multiple cuts the producers did to this film (could very well be, if the information on imdb is anything to go on). In any case, this movie has got nothing going for it, except maybe the monster itself.

Interesting lists.
I really couldnt pick 5.
Night If The Hunter is pretty eerie I guess.
But to me, its certain scenes I would say scare me. This is purely because Ive been scared many times from films that I wouldnt class as scary at all.
Since I havent got a list Ill put down five of these.
No.1; The Sixth Sense 3 bits in this. The first is when he is in the cupboard screaming as the ghost boys beat the shit out of him. Very eerie. The second bit is the crazed woman constantly shouting about dinner. The third and the only time I have ever really crapped myself in a cinema, was when he ran back to his tent and in a panic... then the clips started to come off before finally he (Shymalan) panned around and right there inhis face was girl... scared me shitless...
No.2; The Blair Witch Project. This film to me, was good but still dissapointed me. However in the final scene, when she hears a bang, runs down the stairs and sees her friend facing the corner of the wall, that just freaked me out. That scen stayed with me well after I left the cinema and was very very scary.
No.3; Unbreakable. This wasnt a scary movie but during Bruce's, sense/flashback things he sees the guy going up to a house and saying, in a monotone voice...
I like your house... blah blah and that scene was disturbing in that it made you think, what if that happened, what would you do.
Thats just three scenes that disturbed me, there are many more but these illustrated that the movie in general may not have been specifically scary but some scenes are.
NOTE: Clowns, preachers, kids with white hair (albinos), and skipping rope songs still scare the shit out of me!!!
So I wont be going to the huge party with skipping ropes hosted by preachers featuring clowns for albino kids. Aint gonna happen.
