If you read the review on my site you already know I liked this movie a lot. It sure borrows from its older brothers (them being The Hills Have Eyes, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and probably many others) but still does the trick of having unique style and atmosphere and being much more enjoyable than 99% 'original' modern horror movies.
So... For me this movie's actual entertainment value is more important than the fact that it's 'similar' to some classic flicks. What's your take on it, guys?

Well I for one love Wrong Turn and have it on dvd. It was a great film that went back to the 70's and 80's vibe of what horror films should be. It had a great storyline for it and I liked the actots which they did a good job by the way. The setting was perfect and I would give this film a 4 out of 5 stars.

Same for me, RIP - and 4 out of 5 ain't that common in horror films nowadays. The actors in Wrong Turn were really alright - if anything, they didn't get on my nerves which happens so damn often in the genre. And Eliza Dushku... oh, well, that's whole other subject, I guess

I actually enjoyed this movie when I thought I would hate it. I agree w/ you about it being closer to the 70's/80's slasher pics that I grew up watching. I guess that's why I enjoyed it. And I've been a fan of Eliza's since "Buffy".

Nice to see another soul on the boards who's a fan of Eliza! And since the fan is female - that's even better! I know a man who's probably gonna tell us Queen Latifah beats Dushku easily if we talk being sexy, but so far he's not here on the boards and we can discuss the issue without any problems ;D (by the way: we're missing you here, Red mate!)

Yeah, I really loved Eliza as Faith on "Buffy"...but don't get me started on Buffy or we'll be here all day! ;D

Maybe I'll just start a Buffy thread somewhere if there's any other fans here. ;D

Well, it's worth a try, I think! Myself I'm not much of a fan of Buffy (saw just one or two episodes only) but wouldn't mind having such a thread on the boards - who knows maybe I'll be hooked too, sooner or later?

I enjoyed "Wrong Turn".It plays like a wonderful homage to "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre","The Hills Have Eyes" and "Just Before Dawn" plus all kinds of backwoods thrillers like "Southern Comfort".The film is fast-paced,gory and quite grisly and it surely packs the punch.Easily one of the better horror films made in 2003.

Exactly so! I was stunned when leaving the cinema: sure I expected good stuff but this actually knocked me out! I really didn't dare hope to get such an enjoyable piece of horror without being prepared for it by rave reviews!

It was one of the best surpsises of 2003, yeah.
Now I must admit I wasn't really that impressed with the movie, but that's strictly because I let myself be influenced by all the hype. Really, this doesn't try to be anything other than what it if: a solid and fun slasher movie.
I was kinda annoyed by the way the gory scenes seemed to be a little "sped-up". but I like the scene where one of the girls is being dismembered in the cabin while her friends watch in horror --and that classic decapitation!

I really liked Wrong Turn. I have to admit that there were very few parts where it actually scared me, but it was a well-done, atmospheric, old-fashioned horror flick in the tradition of TCM and Hills Have Eyes. I adore that decapitation of that girl in the tree. I also like that fact that the makers of this movie couldn't cop out and say something along the lines of "This isn't a horror movie; it's an action thriller/suspense." It's a horror movie, through and through. I can't help but wonder if those three, Saw Tooth, Three finger, and One Eye, are in any way related to the Sawyer family.

Good to see you're alive and watching our board, Leatherhead! ...and that you have already picked the avatar I brought here for you! Back to the subject: good point that Wrong Turn is horror 'through and through'! As I said before: I started losing faith that such pure horror flicks exist anymore; watching Wrong Turn refreshed my faith - it can be made, after all - a 100% horror that's damn good!

I agree, I think most "horror" movies these days try to get too deep & meaningful, which is not bad, but sometimes you just want a good old-fashioned slasher movie like "Wrong Turn".
