I'd have to say that my favorite part of the whole film was when the four are trapped in the cabin, hiding, and watching the three villains cut up their friend on the table. It was truly suspenseful and scary. I'm glad I decided to buy this film (which I did without watching it first). I had only seen the previews, and they looked great. It was a gamble, and I won.

I saw this movie with a buddy of mine, and we liked it. Pretty good story, lots of old school horror moments, and hot chicks, you cant go wrong with anything where the main focus is Eliza.

Ohhh yeah great film indeed, one of the best slashers to come out in awhile id say.
The make up was great for the hicks, looked real fucked up.
And they had great kill scenes, im not gonna give much away for the people who didnt see it, but for the ones who did.
"The girl in the tree", was AWSOME!!!
If you havent seen it yet, go buy it, its worth every penny.

"The girl in the tree", was AWSOME!!! I agree, that scene is one of the coolest I've seen in a horror film in a LONG time! And the scene w/ the kill in the cabin is cool too.

Hey look who finally saw this movie!! ;D It being Halloween week, I started my "Week of Horror" on Monday night with a viewing of this movie. Okay, it was on HBO and I thought, "What the heck. Haven't seen it yet." This was a really fast paced horror flick. You barely get to meet the characters before they're running for their lives. And the whole thing was over in under 90 minutes. When will city folk learn to stop going into the woods in the deep south?? One of the characters in the movie even mentions DELIVERANCE. Guess they didn't want to mention the much more obvious comparison to TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. The story? Nothing original here. Like others have said, it's basically a throwback to the horror flicks of the 70's (TEXAS CHAINSAW..., HILLS HAVE EYES, etc.), ie: Group of people find themselves stalked and killed by homicidal maniacs in the woods. Can't get any help from the locals. Law enforcement is useless. Seemingly unstoppable killer(s), etc. That's pretty much it. The actors were actually not bad, the makeup and makeup f/x were really good, but with Stan Winston producing, I expected they would be. And there were a couple of genuine shocks and scares. Don't expect anything very original or groundbreaking, but for what it is, it's okay. I know, not exactly a glowing endorsement, but really, come on. This isn't exactly a movie to rave about. 5.5/10

Yeah, not too original here. The Film reminded me of Texas Chainsaw & the Episode Home from the X-Files. Good till the last bloody drop. ;D Under 90 minutes was a bonus too, I didn't care about character development in this flick, just wanted to see some death & the film delivered.

In my opinion - it is! 8/10 8/10?? You're far too kind. I didn't think it sucked, ie: I didn't feel like I wasted my time watching it because I knew pretty much what to expect. And on that level I thought it delivered. But I'm also glad I didn't spend the money to see it in a theater. I feel an 8/10 is way too high for a movie that doesn't have one surprise in it, no matter how well acted or how good the effects are, for the genre. There are a couple of good death scenes, but no surprises because, let's face it, exactly who you thought was going to die, did die. It was totally "by the numbers". BTW, Term, that X-FILES episode, "Home" is one of my favorites. That was actually a far more original, not to mention creepy, variation on a similar theme, than all of WRONG TURN. And that aired free on TV, folks.

I will be a broken record here and say that when I saw Wrong Turn (also on HBO for free, thank goodness) the first thing I thought was "I've seen a better version of this on X-Files!"
I did like the Stan Winston effects - the make-up, etc, but one viewing of the movie was enough for me. I know I've sat through that X-Files episode more than once.
Better than Cabin Fever for me though!

I feel an 8/10 is way too high for a movie that doesn't have one surprise in it, no matter how well acted or how good the effects are, for the genre. Arrow to the head in one scene surely was a surprise to everyone? And, honestly, in my opinion a movie doesn't have to be groundbreaking to get 8/10. If a horror movie gives me - a dude who's seen hundreds of them - as many thrills as Wrong Turn did I'll have no problems grading it 8. Same with the Dawn Of The Dead remake: the story may be old but the thrills are genuine (and new).

I'm just going to resurrect this thread to fumble my opinion out about this movie: I didn't like it. It started out well enough, but for me, it quickly slid downhill into disbelievability. And I don't care if that's a word or not! For me, it became very standard modern Hollywood horror fare. When everybody jumped (by now I don't remember what from) and landed on their ribcages in a tree, but were miraculously unharmed, well, that was just one of the problems I had with the film--the one I remember best. Cabin Fever, that was the one that rocked.

I really enjoyed it, although none too original there were some quite original touches I thought, such as the chase on the trees. The film was constantly exciting and full of tension, I was on the edge of my seat for much of the movie at the cinema. Yeah, it's basically a late 70s/early 80s slasher, but minus the often very slow build up of most of those films. It reminded me of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre the way it gave the impression of being gorier than it actually was. I MUCH preferred it to Cabin Fever.

I'm really surprised how many people preferred Wrong Turn to Cabin Fever.
That can mean only one thing....
YOU'RE ALL BLIND!! BE CAREFUL CROSSING THE STREET!!!
Ha ha ha!
Just kidding. Although Heiny Skywalker--I agree with you, it wasn't anything special, and not worth more than a 5.5 out of 10.

Cabin Fever, you're saying? Well, let me just watch this one and get back to you.
Wrong Turn, however, is still a strong 8/10. Let us not forget about the Dushku factor, alright?
