What's Peter Pan without Captain Hook? Aladdin without Jafar? Snow White without the Queen? Boring, that's what!
A good hero needs to have a really nasty villain to make the hero look even better by comparison. Not to mention to shake them up from their mostly complacent lives.
I think Scar from THE LION KING is the greatest Disney villain ever. He's a true villain as he doesn't think twice about killing his own brother (Mufasa), sending his nephew (Simba) into exile, and basically letting the pride starve as the land all around them withers away. He's got hyenas for henchmen. He's got some of the best lines in the movie. He's funny and evil at the same time, which makes him highly entertaining. The voice work by Jeremy Irons is fantastic. And he meets a true villain's end.

I chose Maleficent. Cool makeup. And there's just something about an evil woman with goat horns.

Just an FYI: I have been both Maleficent and the Evil Queen for Halloween. I make a really good bad girl. ;D

LOl...I was gonna go as the Queen one year at work but then went w/ the old stand-by vampire at the last minute.

This Hook gets my vote. Mostly because he's the villain of my childhood (unlike Scar) and when's the better time for a cartoon character to pop up in viewers' nightmares, right?

But it must be added that Scar is a real son of a bitch, too.
