Starting with 1937's, SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS, Disney has been at the forefront of feature length animation, and it's only in recent years that their crown has finally met with some serious competition. So let's look at some Disney movies when they were pretty much the only game in town. If I had to pick one of their pre-1970 classics as my favorite, I think I'd have to go with PINOCCHIO. For sheer heart and emotion you can't do better than the story of a wooden puppet who dreams of being a "real boy". Jiminy Cricket was one of the first, in a long line of sidekicks who act as the conscience for the main character, and Stromboli was a pretty good villain too. And who can deny the power of "When You Wish Upon a Star"? Even people who have never seen PINOCCHIO, know this song, as it has become a standard. Gene Simmons of the heavy metal group KISS even recorded it on his 1978 solo album. That's right, the blood-spitting, fire-breathing demon is a leather and armor wearing "softie" when it comes to that song. Brings a tear to your eye, don't it? ;D THE JUNGLE BOOK may be funnier and jazzier, and is a close second, IMHO, but PINOCCHIO was the first Disney feature I ever saw, so there's that emotional tie as well. So, what's it gonna be for you?

I go with Peter Pan. It's also an emotional choice. As the others old Disney's features it's the classic with quite good and meaningful story and well described characters. I've enjoyed the characters: Captain Hook and Tinker Bell. Well, and "You can fly" is aslo well-known song. But my favourite from this period is Bambi. I cried so much while watching it. So shouldn't Bambi and Dumbo be here?

Sorry, but there can only be 8 choices so I had to make an "executive decision". I promise a third poll very soon. Thanks for voting!

That's another one I saw as a kid and haven't re-watched it since but here I've got no doubt at all: this film haunted my childhood! And Captain Hook was THE villain of my early years!

Definately Lady & The Tramp, one of my all time favorite movies. But I love ALL the movies in the poll...Fantasia would probably be my second choice.

Hmm... sadly, my favorite of the lot isn't on this poll or on the Post-70's one (I forget which year it´s from).
That confirms what I have often suspected, that once again I'm in the minority for liking this film.
The title? "The fox and the hound".

Well, just vote on what's here. "F & H" will be in that third poll. Promise.

You're not alone, I love that one too. It's one of my favorites. Hey, that's great! This really seems to be something of a forgotten movie... it's rarely featured in polls, and disney rarely uses clips from it. Then again, that might be a good thing --at least this one hasn't got a tacky sequel attached to it. [Oh, yes, I still do love this one movie... I even own the book in which it was based] Meanwhile, I voted for Fantasia, solely because it is extremely original. I especially like the last chapter, the one with the demon and the nuns (no, seriously). Even Fantasia 2000 was quite good, which surprised me.

Just wanted to add:
I have been rereading the previous messages, and noticed the comments about villains... Captain Hook is kinda cool, but Strombolli has to be the creepiest.
Maybe we should do some sort of poll for disney villains.
Besides, now I remember one thing I also love about F&H: in spite of the surprisingly violent confrontation at the ending (definitely my favorite sequence), there are no villains in this movie. Even the Grizzly was only defending his territory.

I'm glad they've just left it alone & let the original stand on it's own. Geez, I really wanna watch this movie again now...it's been yrs. since I've seen it.
