So, tonight the wife and I watched arguably the greatest cult film ever made: Eraserhead
I may even notch this one above old favorites Army of Darkness and Evil Dead (though the latter remains my all-time favorite film) as greatest cult film ever.
Has anyone else seen this? I was surprised at how it held my attention and even managed to shock me when I saw that damn baby laying there all sick and covered with sores. Damn, what a movie!

Well, here's what I said over in the Movie Police thread: ERASERHEAD. Now, that is one trippy movie. Whatever Lynch was smoking, I gots ta get me some! To me, it was more like a psychotic experimental student film than an actual movie, with you know, a plot and acting. Kudos to Lynch for doing something this different, but I've seen it, and thanks, I'm good. Definitely a must-see if you're a fan of cult films and/or David Lynch. Not boring and definitely shocking, but also not that coherent. Not, and I can't stress this enough, for everyone.

Intriguing. I haven't seen it. Going back to what you said about understanding flicks and finding subtleties if you can comprehend any Lynch film fully especially like this I am full of respect for you.

We had to watch it on video, it doesn't appear to be on DVD yet. So Spacer, if you want to see it you may have to look for it in a video store that still has tons of old videos. We found it at our local Mr. Movies along with The Changling and Repulsion. We were on a kind of "random old horror" kick.
And the "story" was easier to follow than Lynch's "Lost Highway," which left me scratching my head.

If you weren't scratching your head after Lost Highway like almost everybody else Lynch would be dissatisfied and at a loss. So you just pleased Lynch. ;D

My vote for greatest cult film of all time is also my vote for greatest film of all time. The Princess Bride. I mean, how can you NOT love that movie? It's so... genius. If you don't at least smirk when you watch it, the humour impairment police need to arrest you.

The Princess Bride Eraserhead
...gotta see them, perhaps. Bride goes first as I already have it... But is it really a cult film?
Oh and: Fear And Loathing... and Donnie Darko are fine films but not my personal cult faves.

I guess this is as good a time as any to ask:
Bart, what the hell is that avatar??
I was pretty sure the last one had a naked chick wearing a military helmet, but... really, what the fuck?

I'd like to add this:
Bart, what the fuck? Just like LDG, you changed something about yourself here, something we've all come to know and expect, and then to change it to something like that, were no one has a fucking clue what it is, that's all I can say, what the fuck?

It's those redbulls. I started drinking them again on Thursday to help out with the dinner preparations, and I guess now I'm up to two a day. Better cut back to one in the morning like I used to.

Eraserhead is a bore.
And shame on you all for not knowing your Monty Python!

But I don't think Python films are cult films. There's a lot of people that like them, and don't really consider them cult.
