Like, does a person have to be half drunk or stoned to watch this money? Obviously the theme draws to it I would say.

It is a very interesting movie. I think there was a review of it in the REVIEW HELL section.
And much like the book to Requiem for a Dream was much more unnerving than the film, it is the same for Naked Lunch. Naked Lunch the book made me uncomfortable.

It was the unfilmmable movie that Cronenberg filmed. I rather enjoyed it. But I like crazy-ass movies, and Cronenberg.
"Muklug jizum can't be beat!"
Ahhh Robocop, what odd film will you appear in next?

I saw Naked Lunch at the theater when it hit. It probably wouldn't help to get wasted watching this film, though it might help some. Unless you're familiar with most of Cronenberg's films, you probably won't like it. I have followed him since 1982, when I got a copy of Cinefantastique with the legendary Tim Lucas article (check this guy out, he does Video Watchdog). It blew my mind that films could be so DEEP in meaning, and still does. "Spider" was excellent, and I drive long-distances just to see his films on the big-screens. The first I ever saw was "The Dead Zone," and was floored. It is often overlooked that this is one of Cronenberg's most pointed-film, politically, besides "Videodrome." Amazing-but-true, I have communicated with Canadians who have no-idea who he is. How?!! Guy Maddin, I can see, but whaddafuk?!!

I agree that Naked Lunch falls well into Cronenberg's view of the universe. Knowing the book aids immensely in understanding where it was all coming from as well as going to. It's only a few degrees left of Videodrome or the problems evolved in say Shivers or Rabid. It's not a film I'd consider for a mind expander while altered.

Ahhh Robocop, what odd film will you appear in next? Believe it or not, I just saw Peter Weller, ol' Mr. Naked Lunch & Robocop, on the History Channel. He was an expert on Roman engineering and was listed as: Peter Weller, Syracuse University. How odd is that?

The movie DIDN'T make you uncomfortable? I never said it didn't. Peter Weller was in 24 this season. It took me until he died to realize it.
