At Hollywood.com TRIO Film Fanatic has a poll up to vote for the best cult film. Their choices are: 1. 12 Monkeys 2. Mulholland Drive 3. Purple Rain 4. Go 5. Heathers 6. American Psycho 7. Drugstore Cowboy 8. The Man Who Wasn't There 9. So I Married An Axe Murderer 10. Beetlejuice Here's the link to the actual poll www.hollywood.com/polls/Trio_poll/trio_poll.aspMy vote would be for either Beetlejuice or Heathers as far as the list goes.

They consider PURPLE RAIN and BEETLEJUICE "cult" films?? Ooookaaayy... I like 'em both, but cult films?? And let me clarify something. No, I don't think PURPLE RAIN is a great movie, but I do think it's the best music video ever made. From that list, my vote would go for 12 MONKEYS.

Yeah, I don't think I would've really considered those two cult films either. I liked Purple Rain simply for the music alone. Yes, I went through a Prince phase. ;D

Without much hesitation, I would vote for Mulholland Drive. 12 Monkeys would come second.
Mind you though: I haven't seen Heathers.
And to think that The Man Who Wasn't There is the only Coen brothers movie there - outrageous! My least favourite of their stuff!

You know, I still haven't seen MULLHOLLAND DRIVE. It's on my "Must see" list, I promise!

Mind you though: I haven't seen Heathers. Heathers is pretty good. One of my faves from the 80's. Shannon Dougherty is even pretty good in it & I really don't care for her much.

Never really thought of Purple Rain as a cult film! What was Under the Cherry Moon then? I'm ashamed to say I paid to see that one at the show. I, too, went through a Prince phase.
My vote would be for Drugstore Cowboy. Followed by Beetlejuice.

Hey Sybill, glad to see you back! Boy, I'm glad I'm not the only one who went through the Prince phase. ;D

You know, I still haven't seen MULLHOLLAND DRIVE. It's on my "Must see" list, I promise! Yes, yes: it's a movie you should see, Heineken! Watch it at night if you can, and if you don't have creeps all over you during certain scenes you're much more macho than me! As for Heathers: it's another title that's unavailable in Poland yet.

I know this thread is super old, but I just wanted to make a quick comment.
"GO" as a favorite cult film? NO WAY! I thought that movie was so-so and no way a cult classic. I liked EW's cult film list much better.

Not a thing on this board is super-old yet, Phoenix. And as for Go: I agree it's not classic enough to make it to the list. I enjoyed it, though.

I liked EW's cult film list much better. Phoenix, do you have a link to EW's cult film list or can you post it? Thanks!

Phoenix, do you have a link to EW's cult film list or can you post it? Thanks! Just b/c it was so long (61 movies!), I just started a new thread and put them all there.
