And on top of all of this, there's a new TV show hitting soon. On Fox! Yup! THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES. So, the TV series is a prequel to TERMINATOR 3 (Remember, Sarah was already dead in that movie) and the new trilogy of movies are sequels to TERMINATOR 3. Wonder what James Cameron thinks about all this.

I doubt that Cameron really cares since he has no interest in working on the franchise any more.
Oh well.

Terminator was his baby, his project. Whether he cares about working on it anymore or never openly says anything, I'm sure he has an opinion about all these spinoff projects.

Some casting news: Sam Worthington (Avatar, Rogue) will star in Warner Bros. Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, the fourth film in the time travel franchise. The fact the Australian actor just played the lead in the James Cameron-directed "Avatar" is no coincidence. Cameron recommended Worthington to "Terminator Salvation" director McG, indicating that the director of the first two "Terminator" installments might be warming to the new pic. Read on for the entire story.
While the "Terminator Salvation" plot has twists and turns that are being kept under tight wraps, Worthington will play the role of Marcus, a central figure in a three-picture arc that begins after Skynet has destroyed much of humanity in a nuclear holocaust. A group of survivors led by John Connor (Christian Bale) struggles to keep the machines from finishing the job.
Cameron kept his distance from "Terminator 3," the first he didn't direct.
Cameron never took a public position on the Jonathan Mostow-directed "T3," which grossed more than $430 million worldwide. Speculation is his history with some of the producers could have prompted him to stay on the sidelines.
"T3" was owned by Mario Kassar and Andy Vajna, who years ago bought the rights at a Carolco bankruptcy auction out from under Cameron, prompting the director to remove himself from involvement. And the "T3" rights package included a multimillion-dollar rights buyout and exec producer credit for Gale Anne Hurd, Cameron's former partner and ex-wife. He famously signed over his "Terminator" rights for $1 to her before they made the first film, in exchange for a guarantee he wouldn't be replaced as director. It was a deal that left him on the outside looking in as everyone else cashed in on "T3."
The slate is clean after Halcyon Co. bought out all franchise rights from Kassar and Vajna and set the new film for domestic distribution at Warner Bros. for summer 2009.
Sources said McG spoke on the phone recently with Cameron, who is in New Zealand working on "Avatar." It was during that chat that he recommended Worthington, who in "Avatar" plays a paraplegic war veteran from Earth who's brought to another planet inhabited by a race of humanoids at odds with Earth's inhabitants.www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/11184

Official Terminator Salvation Synopsis Released
Production underway on fourth installment.
Production on Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is underway in New Mexico, and to kick things off, Warner Bros. and Halcyon have released an official synopsis of the film.
The plot outline for the fourth Terminator, directed by McG and starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington, is as follows:
In the highly anticipated new installment of The Terminator film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.
The film also stars Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, Charlotte Gainsbourg as Kate Connor, Moon Bloodgood as Blair Williams, Common as Barnes, and Jadagrace as Star.
Moon Bloodgood. Nice. Don't know who she is? Google her.

Who the hell are Common and Jadagrace? [/i][/quote] Common is a rapper/actor who's films include Street Kings, American Gangster, Smokin' Aces and the upcoming Wanted. This is Jadagrace's first film. No idea who that is.

I'm very weary about this reboot. T3 was awful, and do nothing but screw with the story. I expect this to be much of the same. But still, Bales in it.......

I mostly agree - script was really bad, some scenes like with expanding breast or sending fax orally and especially our hero John Connor being a wimp were pure distaste, but still good old Arnie saved it form total collapse and misery. Salvation was even better than I suspected, John Connor being again much more himself than in T3. Schwartzy showed only for a while - looked more like Conan than a terminator. That scene could be handled much better.

Know much about the upcoming ones? According to Wikipedia a new trilogy was halted (the fifth film) by legal trouble and a bankruptcy of the right owner - production company Halcyon. Then the auction was held - but still legal battle over rights is hot. On August this year it was said that a new movie will be in production - an animated reboot not a direct sequel under a title Terminator 3000 but as I said earlier owner of the right - some hedge fund called Pacificor warned a new producer Hannover House that they will take legal action against them if they start making a new Terminator movie without their license.
