WARNING!!
Livingdeadgirl--I'm sorry you have to read this, but, Michael Madsen is in the "Bloodrayne" movie (yet another based on a video game). Uwe Boll is directing it (supposedly it's already finished). Name sound familiar? "House of the Dead" and "Alone in the Dark" are the other abominations he's made based on video games.
Poor, poor Michael Madsen!! And Kristanna Loken, too! Why??

*guiltily raises hand* I think it looks fun. Plus, I'm a fan of The Rock. Ewwwwwwwww...I forgot that Rock was gonna be in that one. Add me to the list of people looking forward to it then. Saw a trailer for it Sunday. Don't know anything about the game so can't comment on that aspect. Rock looked pretty damn good though.

Poor, poor Michael Madsen!! And Kristanna Loken, too! Why?? Yeahhhh, it's supposed to hit theatres January 6th. I haven't read any good reviews for it so far. Suprising, huh? Resident Evil News... Bloody Disgusting recently reiterated expected news that Sienna Guillory is set to reprise her role as Jill Valentine and leading lady Milla Jovovich will once again play Alice in Sony Screen Gems' "Resident Evil: Afterlife". The pair join Mike Epps who confirmed a few weeks back that he would return during an interview.
What's new in the story is that Leon Kennedy and Wekser (characters from the game) look to be appearing in the film and that shocking enough - Paul W.S. Anderson is tapped to direct once again, off a script he is currently writing. The rumour comes as a surprise considering Anderson is already linked with three other projects right now including the vidgame adaptation "Castlevania", the remake "Deathrace 3000" and the nuclear action thriller "Man with the Football".
In any case, 'Afterlife' is now aiming at a 2007 release

It just doesn't end...
from Moviehole:
Director Uwe Boll has his sights set on The Rock. The “BloodRayne” helmer tells Creature Corner that he’d love Dwayne to front his forthcoming film adaptation of the joysticked-offering “Far Cry”.
Boll says he's also considering Jason Statham for the film, which is “fully financed”.
DJ or JS would play the film’s hero, Jack Carver, a guy who's been hired to sail a mysterious woman around the Pacific. However, Jack's ship suddenly comes under attack and he’s knocked off, ultimately washing ashore. He ends up on a tropical island where he has to find the mysterious woman and outsmart the gun-toting mercenaries guarding her.

Boll is also helming another game adap - Postal. Thankfully, this meant a change of a director for House Of The Dead II; Mike Hurst, the new helmer, promises "more horror, less action" this time round. Good news for everyone except slayrrr, I guess.

Bad enough he plundered the Resident Evil franchise to a steaming shitpile! Good one Anderson, you fuckface, on finally putting Wesker in the fucking movies. Too late, too late!! At this rate, video game-based films will never have even an ounce of actual quality. And poor Leon Kennedy, too! He's the character I play as (as the game is made around him) in Resident Evil 4. You should see the fucking thing I came upon last night. Fucking gross.

This thread has been a little untouched for a while, but with Hitman in theaters, and a rumored third House of the Dead movie lurking about somewhere, I figured I'd update it with some bizarre news floating about the 'net:
Max Payne, the killer noir-ish, dramatic "bad-ass cop" game is one of the next slated to go into production. Max Payne is clearly inspired by Hollywood-esque noir, so in theory it could work. It remains pretty much grounded in a more realistic setting without mutants, weird beasties, or truly bizarre science-fiction outings as most all video games eventually skew into (like True Crime: Streets of LA which all of a sudden had you fighting Chinese Dragons and urban legends). Who's been slated to play bad-ass Max Payne? Nope, not the guy that makes the most sense, Michael Madsen, but Marky Mark himself: Mark Walberg.
An article at IGN came with the tagline: "Marky Mark to play Maxy Payne?"

The Max Payne character almost looks like he was inspired by Michael Madsen. He's a "former" undercover cop who's out on a mission to simply kill off all the people of a large crime organization years after they murdered his family and essentially took control of a city by flooding it with a new kind of drug. His look, demeanor, and attitude would remind pretty much anyone of Michael Madsen almost immediatly.
Even the Game Boy Advance version of the game got a Mature rating for it's graphic violence (I still need to finish that... that one level is just driving me nuts!).
