BTW, Spacer's explanation is as good as any I've heard.

You know. I've watched this movie three times and I still don't feel like I totally understand it. But I do have to say, that it's definitely worth the time to watch it and try to interpret it. I do feel like I "get it" a little more each time, as I notice new things with each viewing. BTW, Spacer's explanation is as good as any I've heard. Hey, maybe we should use Spacer to explain all the movies we don't understand! Like Ferngully! .... oh wait... "don't cut down the rainforests..." I guess that one wasn't so hard after all. Never mind!

Oooh, interpret things strangely at times do you? Let's see if I can come up with something that needs explaining....
...
...OH!! Fuck, I've got it. Locate the Japanese film "Gozu" and explain that sumbitch! Directed by the outstanding Takeshi Miike, who also did "Audition," "Visitor Q," and "Ichi the Killer." His films require .... well. An open perspective and bizarre mind, to say the least. A tolerance for the pathologically insane (like Lynch, Cronenberg, or Kubrick).
If not that, explain "Naked Lunch."

Bart, have you seen Gozu? I had the privalege of actually seeing it in a theater. There were no more than 12 people in there.

But since I know some other things by the director I'd gladly observe our spacer (a) going through all this bloody stuff, (b) trying to explain why it was actually filmed. So, this Gozu, more or less, is about what?

Gozu is about a couple of Yakuza men. As I recall, one ends up lost and the other starts looking for him in a bizarre small community. And the movie is very "Lynchy" in it's feel, weirdness, and execution. You really have to see it, really.
Oh, side note. Gozu = "cow head"

Hey Spacer, I just got and watched 2010--I loved that one, too. It came with some explanation, but also with more wholes. What's your analogy of 2010?

No way, man No no that's OK. But I don't have a copy of that movie now and I remember the ending somewhat in a blurred way. Well, it wasn't that exciting as the original. But I'll try to find it anyway. Going back to the question of Gozu I'm about to have & watch it. So that latter commentary would have a priority. As soon as I get 2010 I'll share my views and visions. But you must be patient

Patience, huh?
Luckily, that's a virtue I often posess.
Oh, and 2010 is a cheap DVD these days if you were to buy it. Something like 5-10 bucks, American. I don't know about your currency though...
Compared to our ever-crippling dollar, I would say it'd be a lot cheaper for you!

My currency is Polish Z³oty (Golden) It is 4 for 1 dollar mostly. But we have a quite different market concerning DVD's. It is quite easy to buy the news but to purchase older stuff especially s/f is quite a feat. Most of the stuff is sold not in the shops but as an addition to newspapers, magazines and all kind of papers and periodicals. Lately for example I bought The Housewife magazine just to get the Ring1 and Ring 2 DVD's (Japanese versions). ;D I don't have to mention that I'm not interested in the paper itself ;D I gave it immediately to my sister. So it can take a while to pinpoint the location of the flick you mentioned ;D
