I wasn't overly impressed with Paxton in Near Dark--although, I didn't care for that film at all anyway. Well, that one's one of my faves & it's the first movie I saw him in, so that may have something to do with it. But I do like the role of Severin, the comic relief/bad ass, some of his lines just crack me up. This was the movie that made me start paying attention to Paxton & Lance's careers so I guess I'm a little partial to it for that reason too.

Aliens for me too - i enjoyed the first movie but on second viewings I find it to be a little s-l-o-w at parts (or maybe I'm anticipating the chest-bursting scene). So the sequel all the way for me! Ripley kicks ass!!!!

I heard a lot of good stuff about Near Dark, but when I saw it for the first time last year I hated it. Maybe it's one of those movies you have to see when it's new or grow up with to really appreciate it. Oh weeelllll...

I guess it was b/c it was so different from all the other vampire movies I'd ever seen it just struck my fancy. Just one of those things...

Ripley kicks ass!!!! And that was the best part. Many flicks (s/f too) made in the 90's and later was spoiled by choppy rapid and often chaotic style of action. I prefer slower pace of action when there's time for suspense to soak in to make you feel it. While on the opposite when the action is speeding up the climax is gone and the movie seems to be an overgrown MTV clip. That doesn't mean I like boredom No, sometimes it's good for action to be sped up but I dislike homogeneous never-ending rapid breathless pace of action. That is really boring I tell you with some exceptions of course.

I like all the four Alien films more or less the same (haven't seen AvP), but if you make me choose... ehh, probably the first one: the scariest of the bunch (as opposed to 2: the fastest, 3: the strangest, 4: the craziest).

I thought Resurrection had some poor acting and direction at parts. "Hey everyone! It's Ripley! Nevermind that I never knew her before today! I'm still so damn happy to see her!!" But it was at least a dozen times better than AVP. Ugh. If you watch it Bart, don't pay to do it. You'll just want your Euros back.

I saw it for free too. Every other option unthinkable bearing in mind such a poor quality and featurelessness of it.
