HorrorSpeak style, I thought it would be interesting to choose a list of best science-fiction films as voted by the members of our board. Here's what I'm asking you to do:
1. Prepare Top Ten list of your favourite sci-fi flicks.
It won't be easy - I do know that. I have already made mine and though I haven't seen as many s-f movies as some other people here, I still had to throw several iconic titles out of it at the end. If you prefer to make it Top Twelve or Top Fifteen - no problem with me; all the movies placed between #10 and #15 are going to score one point.
2. Send the list to me in a private message. DON'T post it here!
I'm gonna do the maths and then post the names of winning movies - one title a day, starting with number one. Here's the way I decided to score the movies on our lists:
#10 - 1 point #9 - 2 points #8 - 3 points #7 - 4 points #6 - 5 points #5 - 6 points #4 - 7 points #3 - 9 points #2 - 10 points #1 - 12 points
Obviously, we need as many members as possible to participate in it to make the final choice credible, and that's why I'm not giving any deadline yet - we'll see how fast the votes are coming and how many of you are willing to lose several minutes to prepare the lists.
If you have any questions about this thing - send them here.

Ok Bart, I have a question. If you wanted to put a movie series or franchise, such as, lets say the Star Wars Trilogy, the original three, would you include all three as one vote, or list each movie seperately? Did that make any sense?

Well, they have to go separately. So, for instance:
#1 A New Hope #2 The Empire Strikes Back #3 Return Of The Jedi
If you like them all equally then let your sentiments or whatever else decide about the order.

I was afraid you were gonna say that.... Ok, well, I'll get started on my list then.

I was afraid you were gonna say that.... The choice was hard for everyone who voted so far. I felt the pain, too. By the way: please note that after the first several lists arrived I changed the scoring rules a bit, so that now the difference between #1 and #10 isn't as huge as it was; now, all the movies on our lists count - not just Top 5.

OK, guys - 6 days left to announcing the winner! Those of you who haven't voted yet - please send me your lists as soon as possible! We already have over 70 titles biting each other's spaceships to end up a winner but I wouldn't mind having them even more in the battle. Also, each new vote can still change a lot - even within the Top 5.

Sadly, I still haven't received votes from some members who I thought will participate for sure. Come on guys - it may not be the easiest thing to do but I bet you CAN manage!
Three more days to vote. Still waiting.

Did you get my votes? I can't remember if I ever sent them or not. Yes, I got them. Thanks. And frankenjohn - sorry for removing your post but the voting is, y'know, top secret. Only I can see your lists. Still - thanks for participating, I added your titles to the Big List already.

#1 on our list of 15 Greatest Sci-Fi Flicks is already hinted at in the thread above. Anyone KNOWS which one it is? Anyone disappointed with this film winning? Anyone glad? Tell us about it here!
