I really enjoyed all of the Star Wars films, including the recent two. In fact, I enjoyed Episode II more than Episode VI. Jar Jar Binks. Say what you will, he is NOT detrimental to the series. Just because he is a comic relief character doesn't mean he makes the movie suck. As a matter of fact, all Jar Jar did was introduce a younger audience into the holy franchise, so if anything, Jar Jar HELPS the series. Whether it was made twenty-some years ago or two years ago, Star Wars is Star Wars in my honest opinion.

Oh, by the way, I voted for the Empire Strikes back. See Clerks for my explanation why (Dante offers the PERFECT explanation).

Whether it was made twenty-some years ago or two years ago, Star Wars is Star Wars in my honest opinion. Yes!! Absolutely! Obviously I'm a huge STAR WARS fan, check the name & avatar. I feel that the gap between the movies will be bridged even more once Episode III is released in 2005. Not just by adding the missing chapter, but by people not thinking of them as two seperate series, the Classic Trilogy and the Prequel Trilogy, but as one continuos 6 part series. All equal parts of the entire story. Okay, maybe not equal, people are still going to have their favorite chapter(s). I think the biggest hurdle Lucas faced was the huge amount of time that passed between RETURN OF THE JEDI and PHANTOM MENACE. Everyone expected to enjoy Episode I as much as IV - VI, but all the original fans were now 16 years older. It's a little hard to please the die hard fans and bring in a whole new generation of kids who didn't grow up with STAR WARS. While I can't totally defend Jar Jar, he is annoying, I never got the complete hatred some fans feel for him. He certainly didn't ruin the entire movie for me. He's supposed to be annoying & clumsy. He was ostracized by his own people, and obviously the rest of the Gungans weren't like him. I guess fans weren't ready for a goofy outcast in the SW universe. I have issues with Episodes I & II, but then, I have issues with most movies. There are very few that I consider "perfect". But when you set the bar as high as the original trilogy, which ain't perfect either folks, I think people's expectations are going to be far beyond what's considered normal. Unless Lucas completely drops the ball with Episode III, I think it'll make fans appreciate I & II even more. Come on, George, don't drop the ball. (Crosses fingers.)

Found this on Moviehole today:
"George Lucas is apparently considering a “Star Wars” probable live-action TV Series that’ll air twelfth months after “Star Wars Episode III” is released.
TheForce.Net reports that “While there won't be more movies, we continue to hear the move is to TV. Sources are now telling us that there WILL be a TV series in 2006.”
No word on what, where, when or who will air the impending series (we assume FOX), but our fingers are already crossed it’s not the “Star Wars Christmas Special” on permanent loop for 14 weeks. "

I'd even be happy with another "animated" series ala the "CLONE WARS" that just finished airing on Cartoon Network. I'd love to see further animated adventures of the Classic Trilogy characters, ie: Luke, Han, Leia, etc. that take place right after Episode VI: RETURN OF THE JEDI or inbetween Episodes IV & V, done in the "Clone Wars" style. I love the look of that show. But I would prefer a 30 minute show as opossed to the three minute segments of the "CW" cartoon. A live-action show sounds interesting, but I wonder what stories they would tell, ie: who the main characters would be, at what point in the saga they take place, etc. As it would be safe to assume that none of the stars of the classic or prequel trilogies would be involved. (I can't imagine Samuel L. Jackson saying "yes" to "The Adventures of Mace Windu", for instance.) Interesting news, nonetheless.

I caught a couple of the CW segments on CN...pretty cool stuff. Yeah, it would be interesting to see who they would cast in the live action series. Off the top of your head, who would you put in there?

Well, I'd hate to speculate on casting when we don't even know what the premise of the show might be. But in the Expanded Universe, ie: books, comics, etc. Han & Leia got married and had kids, so I guess you could do a show based around their kids and their adventures. You could also do a show based around some of the secondary Jedi Knights that have appeared in the prequels and in the comics during the time of the Clone Wars. Of course, it would have to take place between Episodes II & III, like the "Clone Wars" cartoon, since it's already a pretty well known fact that most of the Jedi will be killed in Episode III.

Here's some more info on the series from Moviehole:
Seems the new "Star Wars" TV series that's being mooted is one step closer to being a reality.
Firstly,'Gareth' heard from an insider that the series will be set between the events of next years "Star Wars Episode 3" and Episode 4, better known as "Star Wars : A New Hope".
"It's a 7 year deal and that is why the Optical Folks at Lucasfilm had their contracts extended through 2012".
According to the insider, "Star Wars : The series" would fill the void left by some of the recently departured science fiction series and the 'on the bubble' "Enterprise".
And TheForce.net also heard from a scooper who heard something similiar. "Sean writes in with this cool report to confirm work on a SW TV Show is most definitely happening: I asked him about Star Wars' future and he got really excited and told me in thinly veiled comments that it is going to TV (live-action) . He couldn't go into details because he was under a legal contract. So I asked this gentlemen if the show was pre-EP4, he said maybe with a smile, then I asked about Vader, and he had the same response, same with Chewbacca, same with Tarkin. Anyways he said Lucasfilm was really excited about this, and he did mention that there were to be no Episodes 7-9".

"the series will be set between the events of next years "Star Wars Episode 3" and Episode 4, better known as "Star Wars : A New Hope"."
Sweet! Yeah, there is about a 17 or 18 year gap in between Episodes III & IV, so I guess there could be a series there. Kind of an Episode 3.5, huh? I hope they don't call it "STAR WARS: THE SERIES" though. That's kinda bland. Besides Vader, Chewbacca & Tarkin, there could also be appearances by the droids, C-3PO & R2-D2. This is actually kind of genius because you don't really need any of the original actors for most of these parts since they're all behind masks. I wonder if they'd cast an actor other than the guy that's going to be playing Tarkin in Ep. III, or if they've already talked to him about appearing in the series.

See, this is what happens when I don't visit boards enough, I miss all the good geekin'. I'm too late for most of the conversations, but I do want to add a few things. I noticed a post a while back that complained about Greedo shooting first. I see no problem with this, he was a bounty hunter after all. Of course, going by the books (I think Tales from Mos Eisley, maybe Tales from Jabba's Palace), he was only a hunter for a few days before confronting Solo - not the wisest move. Still, you gotta assume Rodians are good shots. I mean, they don't have the muscle of a Trandoshan or the smarts of a Mon Calamari to back them up, they gotta at least be quick with the blaster. Second, I just saw this bad ass Bossk Unleashed figure. I don't know if anyone else still collects this stuff like I do, but this one is a must have. Finally, for future movies/animated shows/televison I'd like to see Shadows of the Empire made. That is all, May the Force be with you

Father Red, I'll probably be posting a link to my Star Wars collection in the near future. I have a few of those "UNLEASHED" figures, and yeah, they're pretty sweet.

I haven't bought any of the Unleashed figures yet (though I did want the Boba Fett one but never saw it around here), but I might get the Bossk one. For such a slick looking alien, he really should have had more of a part in the trilogy (then again, so should Fett and IG-88).
My collection isn't too big, mostly just the 3/34 figures from recent years (mostly from the original trilogy). Though I do have a Millennium Falcon in the box which is pretty cool.

I know the feeling, livingdeadgirl. When people visit my house for the first time, I warn them that it's decorated in Early American Lucas. ;D I've probably put his kids through college with the amount of stuff I've bought over the years. I'm currently in the process of putting together a little website that's like a virtual tour of my collection. Geeky, yes. But fun nonetheless. I'll be sure and post a link then. What do you collect LDG? I noticed in a different thread that you mentioned wanting to get the Universal Legacy set so you could add the three Monster busts to your collection. "I haven't bought any of the Unleashed figures yet (though I did want the Boba Fett one but never saw it around here)" - Father Red Oh man, I wish I'd known. I've seen several of those at the stores around here.

Early American Lucas...I like that! My friends house is like the Lucas Museum. I told him he should charge admission whenever someone comes to visit. I just collect odds & ends, vampire stuff mostly. Figures, figurines, weird stuff like that. And movie stuff, figures & such. My favorite that I have is the Movie Maniacs Eric Draven figure by McFarlane. Oh, and my "If Chins Could Kill" book autographed by Bruce Campbell, my prized posession. ;D If I would've known when I was a kid that those SW figures would be worth so much today I would've kept those babies packaged up! I've been trying to get my hands on those Reservoir Dogs 12" figs, but they're hard to find. I found some on Ebay but they're way expensive. Way too much for the meager pennies that I make!
