Finished it. 120 pages and I was reading it a whole week. No suspense, no surprises, no good plot, cliched characters and it's pretentious as hell. King's worst. This coming from a fan of his, you know.
If, by some accident, you still buy it - please tell me what you think. Generally, though, this is a warning - do NOT buy this book.

Sad to hear that. I guess I should skip this one then...

Just out of curiosity, what is it about? Is it like, a western or something?

It's a detective story - just without a real crime, with lots of useless clues and with a pretentious and disappointing conclusion instead of some kind of a twist, surprise or anything that could be called intelligent. King's trying to say: life's more complicated than an Agatha Christie crime story; and hey: it may be so, but a good crime story is always at least entertaining while King's plot is anything but it.

I'm so glad you posted that Bart - I saw it at the store for 4 bucks and almost picked it up. Glad I didn't! You're probably glad it was very short......

Believe me I was! If the book was any longer I wouldn't have finished it. And damn: I paid 10 bucks for the hardback, can you imagine? I was sure that if it's a King it must be worth it.

Well, at least he has two new books coming out next year so we'll have that to look forward to.

Good. Maybe him and George can get together with Tom Savini and do a Creepshow 3 for all us fans.

Good. Maybe him and George can get together with Tom Savini and do a Creepshow 3 for all us fans. This was just announced today. I read it on Fangoria. Here's the article: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is mounting a remake of the George A. Romero/Stephen King horror anthology CREEPSHOW, which it originally released back in 1982. Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and Doug Davison, the duo behind many of the recent and upcoming Asian-horror reduxes, will produce the new movie with Japanese fright specialist Taka (THE GRUDGE) Ichise and James Dudelson, who got involved by virtue of owning the original rights (he also produced the upcoming CREEPSHOW 3). This looks to be an in-name only remake, as instead of individual stories taking their cues from old E.C. Comics, the tales in the new CREEPSHOW will be interconnected via their characters and situations. No director or writer has been announced, though it seems unlikely that either Romero or King will be involved. I wonder what will be better: A remake of part one, or a brand new entry in the series?

Right now, I'm kind of annoyed with both. Firstly the original doesn't need to be remade--it's perfect. Secondly, Creepshow without King or Romero? Why bother? Might as well make it a PG-13 film loaded with the cast from Dawson's Creek to just to ensure that it really is a piece of shit. I read the first sentences of your post was almost shit a brick with joy. Now I want to angrily throw said shit-brick at the genitals of the first Hollywood producer I come across. Damn.
