So I finally had some time to think about it and create the new section where we can now easily share the books we own. The rules are simple:
1. Whoever wants to share their books sends me the titles and I put them in the "Vault" where they will be visible for anyone interested.
2. Anyone who spots a book they're interested in in the "Vault" sends me a private message with the address, I contact the owner of the book, and soon the book goes straight to the interested one; in case a particular book is, er, booked by somebody else, we form a queue and I inform the person about the order of events.
3. By default the books go back to their owners but if the owner of the book doesn't care about the book's return then it can stay wherever it was sent until someone else gets interested in it (I know *I* have some books which, though pretty good, I don't think I'll ever re-read).
4. The owners of the book may tell me they withdraw their stuff from The Vault at any time.
5. Since all this involves sharing addresses, the Get Your Book! section is password-protected and only the old-timers or trusted members are given access to it; if you are new - please wait.
However, if someone wants to share their books but is still afraid of revealing their address, they can do one of two things:
- send the book to somebody without wanting it back,
- send the book to somebody and then ask this person to return it to me; I will then return it to the owner (this, of course, involves giving the address to me but hey - *I* can keep my secrets and when I promise to keep a given address under lock'n'key then it stays exactly there!). Let's note however that all the potential address-swapping takes place in the Private Messages and NOT in the section itself.
And now: if anyone has an idea or suggestion on how to make it all better, please share it with us here!
PS: The passwords will be sent around today. Be patient!
