...now, this is impossible to choose eight titles and be sure one has used all the right ones. The Shining is not there, Hellraiser is not there, one hundred other good book to film adaptations are not there. Anyway, please vote 'other' if your favourite was omitted.
As for myself, I'm glad to say that if Carrie is in the poll - I have no problem to make my choice. One of my favourite films of my favourite director based on a book written by one of my favourite authors. Case closed.

I chose "other". JAWS written by Peter Benchley & directed by Steven Spielberg. Very good book turned into an even better movie. How often does that happen??

Jaws! Yeah - a very good 'other' choice. Somehow I couldn't think of this title when making the poll. Never read the book but the movie rules!

I went with "The Godfather." Always a classic. Just read the book this past year actually and LOVED it - the movie stays very true to the novel too, which is always nice.

I've read the review of The Godfather on your site, Phoenix, so I was almost sure you're going to choose this one. Have to read the book myself.

I also had to go w/ The Godfather. But Heineken's suggestion of Jaws rates right up there too. And the book is just as scary as the movie is.

What about some other books by Benchley? Are they good too?

I've never read any others by Benchley. And I read JAWS years after the movie was released. In the early to mid-80's.

Jaws is the only Benchley book I've read too.
