I'm sure that most of the votes are going to go to the first two, but I thought I'd give you a selection. Personally, I think all of Orwell's works are literary masterpieces, but my vote would go "Animal Farm", because, to put it simply, I love the clever way it's written as a children's story, when it most certainly is not. "1984" isn't too far behind; the scenes where Winston is being interrogated by O'Brien are some of the best I've ever read.

'1984' so far. 'Burmese Days' is sitting on my shelf waiting to be opened... but so are about thirty other books. Have you read this one, Leo?

What you said. ;D Ironically, I actually read "1984" in 1984 and had to write a paper on it. (I was a senior in high school.) The teacher liked it so much she photocopied it and used it as an example for her future students of how to write a "good" book report. One of my academic highlights. ;D I read "Animal Farm" years later and was blown away by it. I wish I had more time for reading books nowadays.

Can we get THIS posted here, by any chance?

Hmm. If I knew exactly where it is I might be tempted, but right now, I wouldn't even know where to start looking. Keep in mind, that thing's been buried in a box for twenty years now. I do remember that I drew a pretty cool cover illustration for it as well. I made it look kind of like a movie poster for a non-existant movie, with a collage of the main characters, etc. I'll try to se if I can find it, Bart.

I'll probably get kicked off the island for saying this but I've never read any of Orwell's books. Ok, please, keep the flogging to a minimum... I've always had intentions of reading some of his stuff, but somehow just never got around to it. Maybe I'll have to work some time into my busy book schedule for some Orwell.

"Maybe I'll have to work some time into my busy book schedule for some Orwell." Definitely. You can stay though. Somehow, your "crime" doesn't seem as severe as "others". Besides, if someone got kicked off the island everytime they admitted that they hadn't seen a movie or read a book that almost everyone else had, this would quickly become a deserted island, right? ;D

Whew! Guess I avoided that bullet. Thanx for letting me stay! Yeah, we don't wanna end up like Gilligan. Anyway, I'll make some room for some Orwell. I've been running out of stuff to read lately anyway. Been looking for something different, so I'll def. get started on it in the near future.

No I have not, but I've heard that it's a very good book, so if I came across a copy I'd be willing to read it. And HS: really cool about the book report. ;D
