OK so Toxic Avenger was no Citizen Cane......
But Toxic Avenger 4: Citizen Toxie sure was close.... Ok maybe not to your mind... but for me! There are three independant film director that I mold my own (pathetic as it has been so far) film making career after:
There is Orsen Wells (of course) and Ed Wood (cause I like goals I can reach for) and Llyod Kaufman!!!
33 and a 1/3 years of Independant film making!!! Troma is the longest surviving independant studio in the world!!! Llyod has the magic!!! I've met him twice in person and if you every get the chance to do so, go for it, he is one funny guy!! And if you have any interest in film making at all...get his books and his MAKE YOUR OWN DAMN MOVIE DVD box set...
He was in Toronto recently at the After Dark Film Festival giving his MYODM course, which I signed aboard for..he was as hilarious as he was informative.... he give me a POULTRYGIEST preview DVD (this is the new Troma movie, still in post) and I can't wait to see it... It's chicken Indian Zombies and is Troma's answer to the fast food industry...
Llyod knows how to do it...and he likes to share his knowledge!!
My life goal is to have at least a short film in TromaDance 2008...

God, haven't seen Troma film in years.Used to be able to get them quite easily over here in the UK, then a few years ago they just kind of dried up. Deleted maybe?
Ued to be shown on TV quite a bit as well, as well as a Troma programme/documentary style.
Ever remember the Toxic Crusaders?

Yeah Toxic is a hoot!! I have a signed Toxic Crusaders VHS, and I bought the DVD for my kiddies! So much more interesting than the mind-numbing cartoons they have these days!!!
I've seen parts of the TROMA-TV show cause they toss stuff from it as extras on some of their DVDs... I'd definately watch if they had anything cool like that on TV here... but unfortunately they only have crappola on TV here and even evenb the cool stations went the route of their American ShowTime controllers and banned the Takashi Miike MASTERS OF HORROR episode, even with the petition I sent in... You guys in the UK don't know how lucky you have it when it comes to the 'telly'...
Even my old favourite TV shows from the past (which thankly are released on DVD) are mostly made in the UK... but I see see there is another Topic for TV so maybe I'll go continue this rant over there....

I last saw Lloyd in William Winckler's Frankenstein Vs. The Creature Of Blood Cove - he had a funny little cameo there. And since Troma films are very difficult to get in Poland, I haven't seen too many of them - was trying to get into the first Avenger when it was on TV some time ago but... well... I didn't like it much. Maybe now, years later, I would?
