This Peter Jackson perhaps deserves his own thread here, now - after King Kong?
Having not seen Meet The Feebles and Forgotten Silver (a made-for-TV mockumentary) I cast my vote for Braindead: a movie that's at the same time hilarious, disgusting and gripping. Bad Taste is another good example of trying to achieve the same effect but I personally prefer Braindead because the mayhem you get there just looks a thousand times better.

I would have just clumped the Lord of the Rings movies together, because now I can't vote for them.
Heavenly Creatures is such an intensley sad almost-beautiful movie, probably his best directed. And...gasp! claymation instead of CGI!
Frighteners is pretty funny.
Haven't really seen anything from his horror days, sorry.
But Lord of the Rings, despite it's problems (a lot fewer than Kong) are probably my favorites. Of his. But I'll vote for Fellowship since that was my favorite of the series.

I went with Fellowship as well - my favorite of the series and the best 'extended edition' DVD I've ever seen. One of my favorite films as well. A+++++

In my opinion none of these films is A+++++, not even Braindead. The best ones are just A's.
But I like the choice of Fellowship as his best. And Heavenly Creatures is the only one that truly disappointed me - I liked the special effects there but not the story.

I'm not voting. Bartwald, why did you separate the Lord of the Rings movies? I can't pick a favorite, they're all one movie!

Well, they weren't released as one movie, were they? That's why they are separate in the poll, too.

Well, they weren't released as one movie, were they? That's why they are separate in the poll, too. Damn straight they weren't and thank God. Can you imagine sitting there for over nine hours?? The horror, the horror.... Eh, just do what Pulp and Pheonix did and vote for your favorite in the trilogy. It's really not that complicated. Mine would be RETURN OF THE KING. If I were voting for a Hobbit movie, that is. Anyway, I voted for KONG. Having only seen HEAVENLY CREATURES, FRIGHTENERS and the RINGS trilogy, I felt KONG was the most satisfying and entertaining and the one I'm most likely to watch again. I'll have to check out DEAD-ALIVE/BRAINDEAD sometime.

Dead Alive. I just had too many problems with Kong and The LotR trilogy (too long) and haven't seen the others. But Dead Alive is still my favorite.

I saw that in a store and it had an R rating. I could've sworn that when it was originally released, The Frighteners was PG-13. Oh well.

By the way - Jackson recently said he wants to make Frighteners II; good idea or not do you think?

Defo The Frighteners for me. I found it genuinely unsettling and hilarious at times

I went with Bad Taste. Funny film and PJ was hilarious in it.
