You didn't expect me to choose eight definitely best movies Hitchcock made, did you? It's impossible, of course - there's at least a dozen more classics to choose from but... well... you know these polls here, right? Cruel beasts them, only allow us to have eight titles.
So, please choose your favourite from the eight options, and then tell us if it's your favourite in the poll or your favourite of all Hitchcock movies. Deal?
My choice is a bit commonplace: The Birds. No other movie by Hitch scared me as much as this one, and - as you well know - I like to be scared.

Decisions, decisions... I went with THE BIRDS as well. It's the first Hitchcock I ever saw as a kid, didn't even know who Hitchcock was back then, so it's made the biggest impression on me. The scene with the birds slowly gathering on the jungle gym in the school yard is a classic. If that one hadn't been in the poll then PSYCHO would've definitely been my pick. DIAL M FOR MURDER is pretty brilliant too. But then, every movie in this poll is a classic. Can't go wrong with these choices.

Loving The Birds and the 'gathering scene', you must also love Mel Brooks' High Anxiety and the 'scary shitting birds' scene, ain't that right, Heineken? Myself I always adored it! ;D
Oh, and Psycho would be my second choice as well.

I voted for Psycho, b/c, well, besides The Birds it's the only Hitchcock movie in the poll I've seen, I'm ashamed to say. lol Psycho was probably one of the first horror movies I ever saw as a kid, so I guess that's why I'm partial to it. And to this day, I still look over my shoulder in the shower...

I change all the time on this topic. My "favourite" is probably To Catch a Thief or The Lady Vanishes,
but the best is probably Rear Window.
I also have a lot of love for Vertigo and Psycho, as do we all. I changed my opinion on Vertigo second time i saw it - i think its quite beautiful.

I didn't like Vertigo too much when I first saw it. Maybe the second viewing will help, just like it did in your case? We'll see. So far I just didn't feel encouraged to rent it on DVD.

Psycho. I snuck down and saw it on tv when I was a kid and was so drawn into it. Outstanding movie! Why they remade it I will never know.
The Birds would be my second. I always loved that one too. I even had a real life Birds experience where birds all attacked me.... not fun.

What kind of birds were they, cyber? I bet it must have been a pisser to suddenly feel like in a Hitchcock movie! And Psycho... I think I'll finally re-watch it on DVD to celebrate its winning this poll.

It was all kinds of birds. I was a kid delivering papers and there was this bird on the porch of one the house I deliver to. I got on the porch and it started making a weird noise and all of a sudden all the birds flew out of the trees and attacked me. I had to block my eyes and run. They chased me two blocks before giving up, but I was still pretty cut up from peck marks. I have hated birds ever since.
