GET SMART (2008)
The cast is great, especially Steve Carell as Maxwell Smart, aka Agent 86, (filling in for the late Don Adams) but somehow they missed the mark big time with this big screen version of the classic 60's tv series. I was expecting something more like a combo of THE NAKED GUN and THE PINK PANTHER movie series, just really silly, but for some reason, they decided to go way too serious with this movie. It's like a James Bond or Jason Bourne movie, lots of action, lots of stunts, big budget, etc., but with some laughs peppered throughout. Don't get me wrong, there are some funny bits here and there, but overall, I found myself smiling, more than really laughing. And at almost two hours, that's just too long for this movie, which, I hate to say it, got boring. A real missed opportunity.
4.5/10

Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay- A good sequel, but it was definately not as funny. It does do its job though; it entertains. Plus, Rob Corrdry as the racist CIA agent guy is worth the rental anone. B-.

Changeling (2008, Clint Eastwood)
Wow... just... wow. This was one extremely well-made picture. Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich were phenomenal. The art direction, cinematography, editing, music, costumes, makeup... everything was damn near perfect. The story just grabs a hold of your heart, squeezes it, and does not let go. Definitely one of the best this year. Critics are split on this one: "Great" or "Not great". I'm leaning towards "great". I loved this movie. 9/10

QUANTUM OF SOLACE (2008)
Very solid entry in the James Bond franchise. And the first one to keep some real continuity from one film to the next, as the beginning of this one literally takes place just hours after the end of the last one, CASINO ROYALE. Daniel Craig continues to impress in the lead role and there's tons of action and impressive stunts throughout. There are chases on land, sea and air, plus several really good hand-to-hand combat sequences. A very high-adrenalin movie. Oh, and I enjoyed the theme song too, which I'd never heard until I saw the film.
8.5/10

And yeah, the song really wasn't half bad. I think everyone was just comparing this song to the last one, which was... in my opinion, anyway... the best of the series. 8/10 for me.

Oh, I wasn't saying I enjoyed QUANTUM... more than CASINO..., but I did think it was pretty great.
