I read this article on CNN.com just now: www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Movies/05/17/da.vinci/index.htmlYeah, I believe that. Just like I believe that Michael Moore was booed off stage at the Oscars, 2003. Right. (A few people booing is not the same thing as everyone booing) First tomatometer reviews are bad, which means subsequent reviews will be bad considering most critics don't have opinions of their own. I don't see how the movie can be bad. The trailer looked great, it has a great director and the perfect cast, based on a very good book. I mean, the worst it can possibly get is "not as good as I expected it to be, but still good". I blame the Vatican. Their protests caused hype which set people up for disappointment.

My two cents: Public personas (critics, etc) are taking this way too seriously. THe book is pure fluff! I'm sure the movie will be too.
Anyway, everyone I have talked to (note: no one in the public spotlight, and some of my Catholic friends) are looking forward to the movie.
I'll be giving it my dollars.

I agree with the cast being good...which is about the only reason I really wanna see this movie. I mean, Ron Howard's okay, but he's nothing spectacular. And while I think "The DaVinci Code" is an interesting story that could make someone want to dig deeper into the conspiracy, I think the whole book is ruined by the fact that Dan Brown cannot write better than some of the teeny-boppers hanging around the Chad Michael Murray thread at IMDB.
All right, maybe he's a better writer than that...but that's not saying much.
Did anyone read the article where they gave the movie a higher rating (like a 15 instead of a 12A or something) in Britian because the musical score and sound effects were too scary? I thought that was brilliant.

The movie is even more fluff than the book and, guess what, it even has this Church-friendly conclusion tacked clumsily right there at the end! Also, let me add, the movie is just as crappy as the cruelest reviewers were saying. Yup.
