This week, I will be covering the following films:
Glory Road
Hoodwinked
Tristan & Isolde
Underworld: Evolution
Glory Road
Well, this is almost exactly like Remember the Titans, except this time around it's a basketball story, and the coach is white. I enjoyed Josh Lucas' performance for once, and it's inspirational like all of Disney's sports films, but it's also the weakest and I actually like it less now than when I saw it. It's good, but unfortunately very forgettable.

Hoodwinked
There have been prettier looking animated movies, but I must confess that this kicks many of their asses. Animation isn't everything, it's all about the story. And this was a hillarious spoof of Little Red Riding Hood. Great voice acting, nice gags and a few surprises along the way. This was a nice kids movie that I think everyone could enjoy.

Tristan & Isolde
Just because a film is set in the middle ages doesn't mean it has to be a three-hour epic. Tristan & Isolde proves this. By not trying to be epic, this film is actually much more honest than the higher-budget ones. It's not the Romeo & Juliet that marketting has been comparing it to, but it's still a very good love story with some excellent performances (especially by Sophia Myles) and a decent screenplay (even though it needed a little polishing). I consider this a pretty good start for 2006, actually.

Underworld: Evolution
Let me start by saying I loved the first one. I know there are many who didn't, but I did. And I thought this was an improvement. We get to see more of Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman kicking some ass, and a little more backstory. They offer us more insight into the vampire elders, and the action sequences are pretty damn good. My one complaint would be the significant increase in CGI usage in this film. And yes, some of it was fairly obvious. But overall, if you liked the first one, there's no reason why you shouldn't like this one.
