Hey, so later last year Marcel finished a movie that he had just done and sent it out for your guys' opinions.
I was wondering if you would kinda do that for me with the last two movies I made:
"Becoming Death" (and it predates Marcel's death movie having premiered April 2nd, 2004) which is about Death retiring and training an assistant. The weaker of the two...by a lot.
and
"Polar Opposites Don't Push Away" (premiered April 1st, 2005) which is a murder mystery. It won a bunch of awards at our high school film festival.
Yes, they are student films with a budget of about $20 each and the mistakes are abundant, but I worked hard on these. My high school liked them but I would LOVE to have your guys' opinions beofre I dive into my next picture.
The combined running time of both of them is like 71, 72 minutes.
So would you please?

Pulp, I'm interested in your masterpieces. You've already won plenty of awards so that second one must be for sure a quality movie at least in your niche. But the weaker flick might be as interesting as the better one as this is your opinion which might be biased you know it is hard to evaluate one's own creations in a fully independent way. If you think my opinion might be valuable to you I'm ready to see them

I'd love to, but I have to admit that I haven't even gotten to Marcel's movie yet. For someone with no life whatsoever, I still manage to have very little free time. I need a spate of a couple of days entirely to myself wherein I can get to all the things I wanted to dedicate some serious time to. Blast!
I'm like Leonardo Da Vinci (no, not in talent--I don't have any of that!!), I start endless projects and ideas and never find the time to get back to them! Lousey attention span!!

Hey, does anyone know how to put Quicktime (or other) videos online? I could jam my stop-motion animated sequence and truly awful other animations online for you guys to gawk at.
I directed the claymation piece. It's not even a minute long, and took 6 weeks to make at school.

All right Bart and Heineken I just sent them today. Sorry it took so long, but with the beginning of semester and stuff it was just difficult. And it didn't help I forgot them in my room a few days! Oh, what fun!
Well, I hope you enjoy them when you get them. Even on a camp level.
By the way, Bart, you've got to have the COOLEST address I've ever written.

So I got the package, so I watched the films. There goes the opinion on them:
BECOMING DEATH is the less interesting of the two; I liked the soundtrack and the way it was filmed but the story didn't work too well for me: the whole concept felt kind of artificial and some of the dialogues made it even more so (the narration, too: it's too rushed, doesn't feel natural).
POLAR OPPOSITES DON'T PUSH AWAY was, on the other hand, quite a nice surprise: the story works much better, the dialogues sound more professional, and some of the long De Palma-esque shots are just great! Several things, though:
- I love scenes with no dialogue, just music but I think there are too many of them here; you should try to always choose two, three scenes like that and make them special (meaning: something important should be happening within them - it's not necessarily the case here), - sometimes it's difficult to hear the dialogue - you should try and improve sound in these scenes, - the editing has problems: sometimes it's nice and smooth, sometimes the cuts are too abrupt, - the Simpsons beginning is cool but it lasts too long; you should look at scenes like the one at the beginning here and decide which parts could be cut out because they don't bring anything new or surprising into the film.
Conclusion: you've got some talent there, Pulp! I'd be glad to see your next film - and thanks for sending me these two!
