Remember: it's Empire, the UK magazine, so the choice of the Top 8 may not be a 2004 crop for some of you. Let's choose something nevertheless.
For me - the winner would be (no surprise, is it?) Kill Bill Vol. 2, and the loser - Hero (which I really thought too disappointing to be in Top 50 even).

KB 2 for me as well. Can't wait for both volumes to be released together so I can see them again. (I refuse to buy the current separate DVDs.) Thought both FINDING NEVERLAND & COLLATERAL were both very good as well. Haven't seen THE STATION AGENT or ETERNAL SUNSHINE yet, but my biggest disappointment from this list was LOST IN TRANSLATION. Some have compared it to real life, in the way that sometimes life goes nowhere, but I only want it to be like real life if it's a biopic. In a work of fiction, tell me an interesting story. Sorry, I know this movie has lots of fans, but for me, it just didn't cut it.

I went w/ the herd & chose KBVol. 2 as well. Haven't seen most of the other ones, so my vote may be a bit biased, but most likely I would've chosen KB anyway.

I just saw Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind - and was quite disappointed with it. Great performances, interesting beginning and a very good last ten minutes do not make it my Top Ten favourite of the year.

Great performances, interesting beginning and a very good last ten minutes do not make it my Top Ten favourite of the year. I agree. The main characters' relationships were so messed up and extreme I didn't want to even see them get back together or figure things out. Good performances like you said Bart, but that wasn't enough to make the movie for me.
