You know, with the shootings, rapes, beatings, violence, looting, and fires deliberately started by people--does anyone else get the feeling that maybe God destroyed New Sodom? Whatever. What did 'God' do during the Tsunami then? What Sodom was washed away there? Perlease! Sir! I don't believe "God done destroyed them," or anything like that, but shit. When something as tragic as that storm happens, humanity really needs to be showing it's good, "humane" side. So much help is being offered, but all the worst people are taking advantage of the situation down there in the worst possible way. What kind of sick fuck rapes a little boy in a filthy bathroom with no working plumbing after his home is destroyed? Unfortunately, it seems like there are too many people down there that should just be held underwater until movement stops. Anyone who takes horrific personal advantage of such a tragedy isn't doing anything that benefits mankind in general--and unfortunately, it just seems like that area is teeming with those monsters. It could be the media over-exposing such a thing, however. I know that.

I don't think all of it is just media hype. There have been a lot of stories about murders, rapes & beatings occuring, esp. in the Superdome before it was evacuated and in the Convention center. I agree there are a lot of bad people down there, as there are everywhere in the world, & unfortunately they are the ones who get a lot of the publicity when something like this happens. But there are also a lot of good, kind people there who had to suffer. And the children...I can't even think about the children & what they had to go through and are STILL going through.

We had a massive storm system cover the whole of the Twin Cities last night--60+ MPH winds in some places, and reports of at least 2 tornadoes--and several vortexes. Heavy rains, as well--many counties had flash flood warnings and the hail was seen to be golf-ball to baseball sized. Estimated that over 150,000 people were without power through the night--keep in mind that Minneapolis (MN's largest city) has just under 400,000 people all together in it (not counting the suburbs), and that's a big number for around here. Tons of schools were closed today, too. The worst of the storm missed the wife and I, but half of our city was without power. So far, though, I only heard of one fatality and a few ruined/destroyed houses.

We were watching CNN that night when they came on & said that there were tornados in Minneapolis, so we were freaking out since the family's up there. We finally got my brother on his cell phone but he couldn't talk b/c they were shutting down the ramps & he had to get inside.

Wait, that's not fun... I drive an SUV!!! Me too....so I filled up mine yesterday before the prices started going up. It hasn't been too drastic here YET, only a few cents. But I'm sure it will go up more before it's all over with.

Navigator, I believe, is his title. My kid's Mom didn't have power all weekend, so we got him on a weekend that wasn't scheduled for us. So while we didn't get out to see Corpse Bride, at least we still had the kid for entertainment!

My brother works for Masaba. Been working for them for a few months, almost a year actually.
