Ok, this is my late NTD thread... Don't know if anyone here lives on the Gulf Coast or has family there, but I hope not for their sakes.. Been watching the Weather Channel continuosly for the last few days, and man...it's hard to comprehend all the damage & destruction down there from Katrina. VERY depressing and heartbreaking. I just can't imagine...

(And now a rare serious post from Frankenjohn)
I am devastated by the devastation in the south. It is heartbreaking to hear than thousands of people are now homeless. I will keep them in my prayers.

Yes, well, this was a huge shock to see all those damages the hurricane caused. Scary.

Apparently New Orleans is somewhat bowl-shaped and below sea level (like Holland) and there a retaining wall that's damaged and flooding the city--and there's nothing that can be done to stop it.

Havn't seen one bit of footage of this disater yet. No papers, nor television. My fault, don't read, nor watch.
Are some channels showing this disaster 24/7 & which ones? NBC? ABC? CBS? FOX? PBS? - kidding, ok not funny.

We got some of the outer rain bands when it came inland, which was a good thing b/c we desperately needed the rain, and it also cooled the temps down a lot, which was good.

Yes! They definately need your prayers! And they need lots of help. Here we sent out our Red Cross, rescue crews and electric crews a couple of days before it hit so they would be ready to go. And now they're loading up trucks with food, water, etc...to send down there, as I'm sure other states are doing.

They said today that the 30,000 people that were in the Superdome in LA are being moved to the Astrodome in Houston. They said they might be there for a month or more. It's just unimaginable to me...

Some Evangalicists are blaming it on the gays. I guess everything's our fault. I think it's sad that people have to exploit things like this to try to make themselves seem right. It's kinda like that one lady whose name I can't recall and her using her son's death to protest, and the entire Bush campaign based off 9/11.

If you're referring to that lunatic outside of Bush's property, then I agree with you--she's nuts. I don't get that: People's kids sign up for the military then get all upset when they die serving in it--that is kind of a risk of joining the military--and everyone who joins knows it. Why can't their families. Now, why in the hell would gayness cause a hurricaine?? I doubt there are enough flapping limp-wrists in all of the world to make winds that strong... Some people...

And the media has already started playing the race card too, refering to who is being rescued first. But when people that you're trying to rescue are SHOOTING at you what the hell are you gonna do?! I just don't understand people sometimes.... They've told us here in AR to expect at least 50,000 evacuees to arrive here, probably a lot more than that before it's all over with. So every available building has been opened up as shelters around here & throughout the state.

You know, with the shootings, rapes, beatings, violence, looting, and fires deliberately started by people--does anyone else get the feeling that maybe God destroyed New Sodom?

Some Evangalicists are blaming it on the gays. For such a generally damn fine country, America sure has an unusual amount of total cunts in it. -------- like how Al Queaddaa thingy has said that the hurricane is 'the wrath of God' against America. Strange that, as the Tsunami effected mostly Muslim countries and Muslims! LOL! And a big difirence here is that America sent out messages of sorrow and a billions in aid, and Al Queaaadaaa send out hate. That sums up all they stand for!
